Showing interest in toys/rattles

What age should this be happening?
My LO seems to show absolutely no interest in the things around him on his play mat or if i have him on the couch next to me.. I play with them in front of him and it just doesn't seem to phase him at all.
What age do they start reaching out and grabbing things at?

Jacob is now, not that he can control his movements etc but he loves his stuffed pink bunny and is constantly trying to hit his rattles and toys, infact, gets very frustrated when he can't. He is my first though so I dunno and can't compare. But I guess every baby develops at diff rates x

Isabelle is a few days older than your baby, and whilst she doesn't reach out and grab things, if I have her on her change mat and hold a brightly coloured toy above her she'll usually follow it with her eyes...or her current favourite toy would be a muslin if I wriggle it on her tummy
My health visitor said that mum is baby's favourite toy for a good long time though

Hazel didn't start batting at things until 3 or so weeks ago.
I worried the same, but now she's at everything Even has her favourites

Agree that mum is favourite toy first the first month or so at least! Do you have a cot mobile? Matthew loved his from when I put him in the cot at about 6-7 weeks old.

Daisy started showing interest in her mobile and toys at about 6 weeks. She doesn't try and grab things yet but will hold onto things like rattles if I touch her hands with them.

Dakota has no interest in toy etc at all. She has managed to grab her dummy a couple of times but think that was accidental cause she doesn't know what to do with it when she has it! She just looks at it as if 'what do i do now?', lol! Its very cute! I worried when I had my son and pushed him to do things early, this time I'm quite happy to let her do things in her own time - I want to keep her a baby a bit longer! x

My daughter showed no interest in anything but people until about 4 months. Now she has started grabbing and shaking things. My sons i think were a wee bit younger at a boout 3 months but they are all different. Your Lo is still pretty young to be grabbing or holding anything yet.

Evan just stared at the lights and the curtains at that age!

At 11 weeks he really started swiping at things, then grabbed and held/studied his toys when he was a few weeks older.
