Reaching to grab or bat toys

When did your little ones start to grab or bat at toys?
Eloise doesnt yet and she will be 12 weeks on tuesday, I am not worried but I was reading a website about development and it had a little list off things that you should contact your pediatrician about if your child wasnt doing them, she does them all except reaching for stuff.

As I say am not worried I feel she is developing well and people keep saying how alert and strong she is for her age.

Am just curious do your little ones do this.

Hi

My son was 12 weeks on Wed and he is batting at the toys on his playmat but with closed fists, so not gabbing them yet. I was also wondering whether he should now be doing this by now. All babies develop differently tho, so i'm not too worried.

I would say that Jack has only really been interested in toys and started to really pay any attention to them is in the past 3 weeks (he was 19 weeks on friday)

Omar started grabbing toys 10 days back. Earlier, he was only interested in trying to hold his bottle & grabbing his dummy,

Bun started batting at toys only recently - before that he would look, but wasn't really interested. He has a teddy that plays music if you push its tummy and he loves punching that though!!! I really wouldn't worry - if you surf around, the discrepancy between what the different websites say is pretty big. Also makes a big difference whether your LO was born early or late - all babies develop differently and might do some things early while others late. Purposely reaching out and grabbing something they want usually takes more than 3 months anyway and your LO is a few weeks away from this!

xx

my LO will be 15weeks on monday and about 2weeks ago she started grabbing her toys herself(still not got great hand-face co-ordination yet tho and occasionally hits herself in the face with her rattles lol-not that she cares!) but she still hasnt started batting things yet though.

She started about 8 weeks (i remember as it was the day after her 8 weeks injections!) but she was very clumdy about it, still getting the co-ordination right. And now at 16 weeks she is a pro!
But every baby is different, i've read most babies don't start doing this until 4 months, so i wouldn't worry xx

Think it was around the 12 week mark for us. It is amazing how quickly they go from not doing something to doing it! Just when you start to worry about them not doing one thing, they suddenly do 3 new things at once. xx

Evie's just turned 15 weeks and has really started grabbing at toys over the last week or so. She's been batting at toys for a couple of weeks The concentration on her face when she's grabbing at something is just soooo cute
