Your experience with teething?

Can you share your experience with teething?

I suspect my little girl is teething, but am still not seeing or feeling any teeth.

Her recent out of the ordinary behaviors:

Will not nap or sleep without me: she falls asleep nursing and as soon as I put her down, she wakes up completely and starts screaming.

Has not been sleeping well at all: she usually sleeps 15 hours a day, last few days she's only slept 8-9 hours.

Wakes up after 30 mins of nap and starts screaming immediately.

Body (head, hands, feet) feels very warm despite me dressing her with less clothes.

Does this low whimpering/grunting while nursing and napping....

Other than that, she's quite chipper during the day when she's awake and has had some sort of a nap. Smiles a lot and plays with mom and dad. Nursing very well too.

Could really be anything, sometimes new milestones or any changes can effect their sleep. But it's also possible it is teething. I highly suggest an amber teething necklace, it was the best thing for Hayden

It took nearly 3 months from the first signs that George was teething till he actually got a tooth (2 together). Initially it was waking loads and crying etc etc. He responded really well to teething gels so that confirmed my suscpisions.

I didnt have too many problems to be honest. I guess I was lucky. They had sore bums, dribbling and red cheeks.. It took ages for the girls to get teeth. It was xmas so they were 11 months old (8 months corrected due to being prem)

I had a few cries through the night and then in the morning when I looked in the morning there was a tooth so I am assuming that is what it was .

I hope she settles for you soon hun. Teething is horrible x

I forgot to mention the standard teething symptoms she's been experiencing:

Uncontrollable drooling since 3 months old, so 2 months now..

Drool rash on chin and neck

Lately she's been getting really warm red cheeks (temperature?)

Chewing on anything - esp her razberry teether and Sophie the Giraffe (both are awesome by the way)

Theakstons symptoms are waking in the night for comfort and/or food, general grumping, bad tummy (but that could be from the extra night feeds too - eating for comfort rather than hunger), but tbh it's the same symptoms he gets from a growth spurt. The way I test it is if he's feeding and feeding and keeps dropping to sleep then snapping awake & fussing, I put bonjela on his gums. If he falls asleep within half an hour I know it's teething.

Joe started having teething symptoms when he was about 3 months and we still don't have any teeth yet! I have felt around his gums and have a good old look when he yawns, but still can't see or feel anything.

Have you tried teething gel? That really helped Joe, we put in on after his feed and found it seemed to sooth it.

Same here... it's been 2 months since she's been having on and off teething symptoms but no sign of a teeth. I haven't tried any teething gel - I prefer going natural. The pediatrician also made a good point that teething could go on for months and the gel is just not a very good long term solution. Same with children's Tylenol. If it gets really tough though, and the pain is cutting in to her growth or developments, I'll consider trying it. Thanks!

We only use the gel if it seems to be getting really bad. When his symptoms first started we used it a few times a day, now not at all, but he sucks his thumb and hands alot, so I think that maybe helps him too?

When you girls say you cant feel anything, what do you mean by that? Ollys gums are really hard, they look and feel like pink teeth! Hes starting biting his hands and our fingers, and boy does it hurt! He's got other signs - drooling, rosy cheeks, irritability (although that might be down to his reflux/medicines). He's quite young but his gums have been getting harder and harder and he was 11 days late and quite advanced in development so far. Tried some teething powder on him when he was inconsolable yesterday and he went to sleep but we've only tried it once so might just be coincidence.
