I knew it wasnt reflux... Sorry about the rant.

Been all ago the past 4 weeks with little Izzy.
It started out just being sick every odd feed, then soon enough every feed and it was projectile, God it would hit the other side if the room poor thing was so frightened
I could tell she wasn't well in her self.
Went to the doctors they say its reflux and give me Infant Gaviscon, That doesn't seem to help so they give me Domperidone, That doesn't work so i went back and they gave me Ranitidine. And yep that didn't work either. They say to cut the feed from 5 oz to 2 oz, and then to weaken it and only put 1 scoop of milk in.
Got an urgent referral from the doctors to see a paediatrician at Stafford Hospital, We go in friday, they were trying to fob us off saying its reflux. Well they wanted a urine sample so we got her bottom half undressed but she wanted a bottle at the same time so i fed her while my mum angled her to try catch the pee! One of the docs was watching then all of a sudden they all come in and watch her feed, I though right fair enough, One of the nurses say, ohh we can treat this and they all leave, 10 minutes later the main man comes in and says we know what it is and it is easily treated, its Pyloric Stenosis, He said he hadn't seen it in 10 years and asks if he can take some photos and video footage for trainee doctors, Had a scan an hour later which confirmed it was PS.
Had to stop in till there was a bed free at Birmingham Children's Hospital, Finally got one the saturday afternoon, And by the sunday afternoon she had her op. God that was the worst hour and a half of my life. But she was fine, And wow she is alot better, no sick what so ever since then, One little spit up but what do you expect from a baby. We finally got out of hospital today and shes like a changed baby. I just so happy shes back to normal, all day shes been smiling at me and anyone she claps eyes on!

I'm so glad she's better now hunni.

Ben had PS too and had his op when he was about 4 weeks. The projectile vomiting was def not easy to live with! My doc also said reflux and told me off for 'trying to find a magic answer' needless to say I bypassed him and eventually took Ben to a&e.

6 weeks later he's absolutely fine, is draining about 42oz a day and we don't have any issues about keeping him upright etc is wonderful!!

I hope you're enjoying being home, I had to stay in hospital for 5 days and I was a mess by the time I got home.

Boomerslady, How long did it take till your little was back up to normal feeds?

Oh bless her. You must have been so worried. Glad it's all looking up and well done for sticking to your guns on her behalf. X

Had to google it as its something I've never even heard of before. Thought I'd post a link for any one else who has no idea what it actually is.

Aww your poor little girl. Glad she's better now though.

Did it affect her weight gain a lot?

Yeah she lost loads of weight, She was born 8Ib 4oz, By 3 weeks old was 10Ib 5oz, then all of a sudden this hit her and she went back down to less then her birth weight by 6 weeks old. You could see all the bones and her skin had wrinkled where it would be all podgy x
