babys sleeping position

most times i will lie my lo flat on his back to sleep, but recently he likes lying on his side and isn't so troubled by wind in this position either. i only let him do this when he is napping next to me for short periods and i'm awake cos i'm not too sure if this is a good position for him to lie in for long periods?? when he was in special care they would lie him on his side alot so maybe he is used to this position and this is why he likes it i'm not sure but sometmes its the only way he will nap. what does anyone else think?? thanks

Phoenix has been side sleeping since about 1 wk old, he hates it on his back. I just make sure i change the side i put him down on each time he naps/sleeps to prevent any flat head syndrome.

My Anna rolls onto her side as soon as we put her down flat - she has been doing this from about 5 days old.

I was concerned about this as we are always told to lay baby fat. I spoke to my midwife and she said thats no problem if she is rolling over on her own.

Anna rolls about all night - she will be on her back - then left side, then right side, then back,....

Omar doesnt sleep in one position all night. He starts on his back, then moves to one side, then the other. Even when he's on his back, he moves his head frm one side to the other. He did this since birth.

I used to put Thomas down on his side quite a bit when he was younger, if his wind was bad he could not settle at all on his back. He now seems perfectly happy sleeping on his back in the starfish position.

Theo has been a side sleeper from the second he figured he could get himself onto his side (about 4 days old) infact a couple of times during the night the last three nights Ive woken to feed him and found him on his front...argh! Anyhow if you place them down on their backs and they turn its fine, I do put Theo on his back if I find his on his front though, he just wiggles back onto his side and grunts at me in a disgusted mannar.

Joe has always slept on his back, but since he's been able to roll, he sometimes sleeps on his left side. Never his right though, he hasn't rolled that way either!

If he falls asleep like that after his last feed, I gently roll him back onto his back and he stays there all night.
