Hi Foogirl,
I've been a bit worried about this too actually. I was wondering would it be such a bad thing to keep one nap per day in the pram? I normally go out for a long walk and Thomas generally sleeps the whole time. I know that he's being rocked to sleep by the motion of the pram but is that really a big problem if it's only for one nap a day? Also as you say I don't want him to ONLY be able to sleep in his cot.

Hi ladies - we had another night of sleep, too! DD slept for around 12 hours, and woke up for a feed at 4:45...took her a little while to settle down, but she did it...and without crying, just 'talking' and grumbling. A-mazing.

I'd be interested to know what you'll do about naps, too, as I want DD to be a 'flexible napper'. She always naps on me, car or pram....so not sure when to start the nap training.

That's fantastic!! It is really amazing how quickly things can change isn't it!

I have started putting Thomas down for most of his naps in the cot - I used to always bounce him to sleep in his chair - it has been a lot easier than I was anticipating, maybe because he's used to getting himself to sleep at night time now. He generally whinges for about 5 minutes before going to sleep, but he did that in the bouncy chair too.

it is so amazing...I can't recommend it enough. DD looks refreshed, I feel refreshed, DH is going to work feeling refreshed. Does us ALL good - and without guilt or too many tears! (all round!)

Be good to keep this thread going as a kind of 'sleep sense' support?

So glad to hear Thomas is doing well on it, too!

Hi. I have started to put Isabella in her cot for naps today and it has gone down a treat She used to settle herself anywhere but the last few days has been struggling and not really sleeping so thought i'd try today. I also didn't swadddle her as she's used to, i just stayed with her and held her hand She's snoring away I too am worried she will get used to just sleeping in the cot and would like her to be a flexible napper Isabella falls asleep in the pram which is due to the motion i guess so i'm going to try just one nap a day in there whilst i'm out and maybe another in her chair or sofa just to see if she can adapt I'll just have to organise shopping and what not around her naps for the next fews weeks till she's used to it x Sorry for sneaking in and writing an essay lol! xxx

I would suggest getting going with the naps - it can take a while!

But yes, maybe do a nap per day in the pram, perhaps put the pram on her bedroom, but avoid rocking it or moving it - the whole point is getting them to sleep without any intervention.

The naps are a challenge, I think the cot made it a bit easier to get her into the swing of it. We're going to try moving one a day to the pram, but do it on a weekend when Mr Foo is here to help if it all goes pete tong.

DD went down for her nap in the cot no problem - but she woke up 25 mins later in a tizz. I followed Dana guidelines, and she got up 25 mins after that...she's now happily playing!

One step at a time

So is it ok if she falls asleep in the pram if i'm out for a while as long as she's good at settling herself in her cot for naps? She already settles herself in her moses basket at night, no intervention ie rocking or sshhing Thanks x

The sleepsense lady suggests trying to keep them awake, but I'd say a 2 month old needs to sleep every 45 minutes to an hour anyway, so if they fall asleep it wouldn't be a problem. As long as this isn't the main way she falls aseep.
