Hey Jacs

lo has a blankie too - well its more of a teddys head with a blanket for its body - once it was covering her face so now i have bunched it together and sewn it in the middle so that it doesn't spread as a blankie - does that make sense?

i've just re-read ur thread - and u r questioning choking - whats he like when he's awake - does he put things too far into his mouth?

we had a better night last night - lo only woke for two feeds - she also managed to setle herself for one of her wakings so was well happy

i went to the clinic today to get lo weighed thinking yep she'll be well over 13lbs now as she is on 3 meals a day now but no, the little tidley put on 3oz in two weeks - grrrr only 12lb 10oz now - we are getting there slowl

Lyre- thats fantastic news - you must be over the moon

hope everyone is okay

Hey everyone.

Jacs - Thomas has a blankie too, I don't think they would choke on them really, babies have a strong gag reflex if they put something too far into their mouths so they would automatically spit it out, the gag reflex is there to stop them from choking.

Lyre - fantastic news!! I find Thomas is so much happier during the day now too! He is full of smiles and laughing at everything. I think he was constantly tired before. I was also quite surprised at how little crying there was, yes there is some, but much less than I expected.

Flowers04 - at least she is putting on weight even if not at the speed you were hoping! Not long till she hits 13 lbs. That's great news that she managed to settle herself at a night waking - I found that once Thomas started to learn how to do that things started to move very quickly.

TennisGal - how are things going with you today?

Hello!!

Good day today - another fab night last night. Like you, am really noticing that DD seems so much more content now she is sleeping properly...even with her teething pain, she's just much happier. We've moved away from being zombies to being so interactive - all of us!!

Naps - not happening. Her long nap was on me - the other two lasted about 20 mins. She didn't cry today, but when I went in - I was suspicious after hearing some 'chat' - she was conversing with her hands I think naps are going to take us some time!!

How's everything with you, P?

Flowers - DD has had an iffy few weeks with weight...lost a bit with her ear ache, went back to what she was and then plateaued. Keeping everything crossed that we'll see a better weigh-in at the w/e. She's getting better sleep, and waking for a nightfeed. Fingers crossed for both of us.

We may get to watch Masterchef this evening...which is quite exciting (yes, I did just say that!)

lol at Masterchef!

Thanks for your ideas about the blankie - we gave him it to play with this afternoon, and decided it is practically impossible for him to stuff it that far in his little mouth! (not that we tested it out!). He's barely slept all day without it, amazing how quickly he's gone back to being grumpy and overtired. Yesterday he didn't cry at all, apart from settling himself to sleep.

lyre - sounds like great progress, I'm amazed too at how confusing life must have been for Evan up until just 6 days ago - I can see things sooo clearly now!
flowers04 - how long is it since you started weaning? She might have a sudden jump once she settles into it. Nearly there anyway...
TennisGal - great about the night sleeps - naps can't be too far behind!

How's it going Polaris?

Hey,

earlier it was suggested about having a group for this, so I made one in the Lounge Area. Shall we just move to there?

I know what you mean - it just feels like such a huge responsibility doesn't it? I put so much time and energy into thinking about what is best for my baby and I still worry that I'm making the wrong decisions, LOL. It doesn't help that when I ask OH for advice or to talk something over, he just says to do whatever I think is best. I'm like, yeah OK, if I knew what I thought was best - why do I always have to be the one to make the decisions, I'm totally winging it too you know!
Just finished reading this thread!

Great stuff. These two posts above REALLY made me think how similar new mums are! I fret about what's good and right for my baby all the time and although MOST of the time i can be rational and think it will all even out in the end, the rest of the time I get myself into a TIZZY about what is best!.

I know it's time to start sleep trianing because my LO has in the last two weeks become a very unhappy bunny because she doesn't know how to fal asleep. It's distressing but so cute! she's lovely and she doesn't know! no one taught her.

Hi redpoppy, there's a really helpful Sleep Sense group in the Lounge Area.

I also realised a little too late, that Evan needed to be more independent with his sleeping, but he's mostly sleeping through now.
Come on over!

Hey, ladies. I'm wondering if Sleep Sense would help me and my LO as i've reached breaking point. LO's sleep has gone from bad to worse. He fights daytime naps with a vengance and wont go down in his crib during the day. He goes down okay at night but wakes at 11 and 2 for feeds and from around 4am has me up and down non-stop putting his dummy back in. I am dead on my feet as he has never slept through and i haven't slept longer than 3 hrs straight without having to get up since day one. I'm honestly at a loss. Do you think the Sleep Sense programme would help us? xx

I think it would - but you'd need to be prepared to give up the dummy.
