URGENT help required now please! *Update Pg 6 - Home from Hospital!*

It's 4.00am here (at the beginning of me writing this)

And i am afraid to go to sleep!

Bella woke at around 3.15am as usual for a feed.

But last night i went over to my sisters to play poker with some friends, Bella had a normal feed at around 8/9pm but she sicked up a lot of it (which is very rare for her!) and was screaming for the most of the night, we all thought out of tiredness, but think she was fighting it because she could hear all the people and didnt want to miss out on anything.
I tried giving her another feed as she sicked up the last one but she wasnt interested so put it down to tiredness.
Got home around 11pm, again tried to give Bella a feed but she just wasn't interested at all, she had calmed down and wasnt screaming any more but assumed she must still be tired, so put her down to sleep and assumed she would wake up in an hour because she'd be getting hungry (feeds every 3 hours usually)

I stay awake until about midnight to see if Bella is going to wake for a feed or not, when she doesnt i decide to go to bed thinking if she wakes, then she wakes, she is easy enough to settle.

Then am awakened at 3.15 by Bella screaming, which again is very unusual for her as usually she just grumbles to herself, i quickly put her on the breast, she has a 10 minute feed still asleep, then put her down and shes off again. But this time i picked her up, put her on the breast and she just screamed at it?? I tried calming her first by holding her upright and laying her head on my chest and rocking her which soothed her a little, but every time i lay her across to give her a feed she just screamed which is so so unusual :-S Bella loves the breast! :-S So i got a bit worried and turned on the light to get a look at her, i took off her baby sleeping bag and sleepsuit and she felt quite hot so took temperature and it was 38.3 which is a little hot! I also changed her nappy (which was only a tiny bit wet) and she seemed happier then so i tried her on the breast again as she had stopped screaming but she only fed very lightly, not really interested, and since she hasn't had a feed for at least 6 hours i assumed she would be a lot more ravenous than that!
Her temp went down to 37.4 on it's own (I can't give her calpol - long story)
and think i have managed to give her a little feed even though it's nowhere near the amount which i think she should take.

I have put her back down to sleep now, and though she is grumbling a little she seems to be ok.

But i've worried myself quite badly, she's never had a problem having a feed before, why is she refusing? She does she seem so uninterested? She doesn't seem to be teething at all, could it be anything else? Should i be worried? I mean, i'm not a 'worrier' at all really, but this was really really odd as our night time feed is fairly typical and for her to not want her feed is so strange for her. Do you think it's something i should worry about?
Am now worried to go to sleep as i feel like somethings going to happen and it's a sign that something is very wrong. Perhaps i should just stay up and keep an eye on her? :-S Don't know what to do for the best! Please help?

Thanks for reading this much :-S

Sounds to me like she's fighting a little bug. With her temp going down already and slight improvement in feeding, I'd say she's coming through it fairly quickly though.

If it makes you feel better, keep an eye on her until morning and see how she gets on. If she's fussy at her next feed then I would seek some advice as I'd be concerned about dehydration.

I'm sure it's nothing, it's just worrying when they won't feed isn't it?

I'm not quiet sure what it could be hun tbh, but i was always told if a babys temp goes above 38 you get them to the hospital sharpish.

I know its gone back down now but if i was in your position i would still take her up to the hospital or call a doc out, mainly because she isnt herself at all and because her temp raised, plus her not feeding the way she normally would.

This is just what i would do, i would be like yourself tho worried to go to sleep etc and i would prob be constantly checking her temp.

I hope she is ok hun, please keep us posted.

I don't want to tell you not to worry in case something is wrong, but she's probably fine. Has she had any jabs in the past couple days? Philip has had nights where he slept through unexpectedly and I worried at first (calling the doctor at 4 am, staying up watching him, etc). He was always absolutely fine the next day, just tired. Also, sometimes he spits up when I overfeed him. Like Bella, he loves the breast so I worry when he doesn't want it.

Have called NHS Direct and they have told me there is probably nothing wrong with her! :-S

They said temp will be higher at night and because she cooled down after she was awake proves its nothing :-/ they said it's not unusual for babies to have days where thy feed less than others.

I think that isn't great advice.

She seems ok, she's asleep now and i keep checking her temp which seems ok, think i'm just going to stay awake to keep an eye on her :-S

And no, she's not due her next set of jabs until next week!

Well, that can't be true as over 38 is only just a temp and most issues to do with raised temperature are manageable at home and nothing at all... if baby's temp is touching/nearing 40 and wont go down with a paracetamol suspension THEN seek medical advice (NHS direct and the like). If you go to hospital with a temp of 38 then you'll get a few funny looks, tbh.

Just saying, it's not necessary at all at that point and far from an emergency.

Honestly, that's what I'd be telling you too. NHS direct HAVE to err on the side of caution as it's actually a privately owned service and are open to lawsuits so they are notorious at sending people to the hospital/doctor at the drop of a hat to avoid this.

If they're saying it's nothing, you can be pretty certain that they're right. Put it this way... they've yet to be sued.

I'm just saying what a GP told me at the walk in centre when i took Mya there when she was 3 weeks old.

Wasnt saying the op had to do this just sharing something that was adviced to me by a health care professional.

Ok, it's now been two hours since she woke up, temp seems fine, sleeping ok and seems fine in herself (from what i can tell from a sleeping baby anyway! Lol)

Think maybe i got myself worked up over nothing? :-/
But in the middle of the night things seem a lot worse than they are maybe, and when she displays behaviour so unlike herself, i think any mother would get worried!
I'm going to snuggle up next to her and try and get some sleep, though am not feeling all that tired really.

Thanks for your replys girls, it's good to know i have a site like this i can come onto a stupid oclock in the morning and get replys so fast when i need help!! Lol.

Thanks again xxx
