my baby has a heart murmur :o(

well, went to the docs today about her colic and wind troubles and came out finding she has a heat murmur He listened to her chest for ages with lots of 'ums' and 'ahs' and then told me she had a heart murmur. He said she may grow out of it, but will need to go back in a couple of weeks to check on it. I'm so worried

my niece had this found at her 6 week check and a check a while later showed it had gone. when the paeds checked Zander they also thought he had a murmur, but a more experienced paediatrician came the next day and said he didn't have one. It is a worrying thing, but heres hoping that like my niece your LO grows out of it xxxx

My little girl had this at birth, doctors said we had to keep going back to hospital every few weeks till it fixed itself. We went back when she was a week old and it had gone

I'm very sorry to read this hun and I really hope your little girl grows out of soon. As other ladies have said some drs do think babies have one and others disagree. My mum said they thought I had one when I was a baby but it turned out I didn't. Good luck with the hospital visits. Take care xx

My LO has also been found to have a heart murmur. It was detected when they were listening to her chest recently. We've an appointment at the hospital in a month's time. The docs didn't seem too worried and said it was really common. It is likely to be innocent rather than anything serious.

Having said all that - it is worrying though so I understand your concern. I hope your LO is okay

Alex had a heart murmer
We went back to the docs 2 weeks later and it was still there
We then were referred to the local paed cardiology clinic.
He had a heart scan but the murmer had gone. The scan did show one area that heals at birth had not quite totally healed itself and it can take up to 2 years to clear.
It is very common in babies but has no effects on the health of the baby
Try not to worry but please ask if you have any questions

Hi hunny

I am sorry to hear this, but I have heard that these things can be very minor in babies and they can grow out of them. Please try not to worry.

P.S- Your LO looks absolutely gorgeous! xxx

When I was born, I had a murmur due to a small hole in my heart, but that did fix itself. I still have the murmur, but it is completely harmless. I've heard this is fairly common in babies and usually is innocent.
Hopefully that makes you feel a little better!
