Advice needed- NHS infant health care

For those who dont know a bit of background

I am Greek, and DH British, we live and work in London for 9 years now and I had to move back to Greece last year due to gestational complications and better care here.

LO was born in Greece but I have registered her birth through the British consulate and she has her British passport ready.

We are going back home UK this Sunday. I need to know what type of health support you get in the UK - I read a post about health visitors? also read a post about red book?? Did you register your lo with your gp or does it all happen automatically???Also read somewhere about baby clinics? I am clueless!

What things I need to sort ouy as soon as we are back for dd to be set and ready?

Hiya!

We had to register ours with the GP but you get the red book when the health visitor comes and sees you iirc.

Register with your GP and take a copy of Christina's medical records with you, along with details of her birth. Ask for information about being designated a HV and where the local baby clinic is. The rest, is easy xxx

You have to register your LO with a GP surgery. I would imagine they might assign a health visitor to you, though I'm unsure as it happened when I came out of hospital for me! The red book came from the HV also, and it's used to record height, weight, jabs, etc. All aspects of your baby's development.
Baby clinics aren't a necessity, they're where you can take your LO to be weighed etc and discuss any questions you might have.

I would think your best bet would be to register Christina with a local GP surgery and make an appointment to talk to someone about it

Ye you will need to register your baby with GP, you can find out from the GP how often baby clinic is, what day and time. Most baby clinics are help at the GPs or at a sure start centre. You will get your red book when you see health visitor. Health visitors are the people who weigh your baby, measure there length and you can go to them for any advice you need really about your baby
