I always had to rock Thomas to sleep in my arms, the ONLY reason I can put him down awake now is because he stopped being able to fall asleep in my arms, he would just cry and cry for hours. So I tried just putting him in his basket and just resting my hand on his tummy, he cried for about three minutes then started sucking thumb and went to sleep. I was totally amazed!! He was three months old when we started doing this and now he settles brilliantly at bedtime. Your LO will get there in his own time - right up until the night he did it I would have sworn that there was no way that Thomas would fall asleep on his own - Kalden will surprise you too one day!

I have a friend who did sleepsense for her 6 mo old and it worked for her. That said, I am skeptical that it can work for the younger ones. My guy wakes up farting and crying. I don't think it is a "habit" thing. But the other factor is I am WAY too lazy/tired to do anything but bring him to bed and nurse him when he wakes...

*sigh* Maybe it is best to stop that habit now?? or maybe not...since he is young... I dunno.... I need some sleep to think about it

!!!!!!!

Maybe this is why I haven't been able to make a decent decision (and stick with it) about how is best to proceed!

I don't know why I do this as I do not enforce a strict routine on him (apart from bedtime) and I feed on demand and let him sleep when he's tired so it seems daft really!
Whats the name of the app hun? I want it!!!! hehe, please
The app is called Total Baby and it really is brilliant!xx

Elliott has been woken up on several occasions with abdominal pain the poor little chap. He's always done mega bottom burps and I pump and bicycle his little legs. We start a baby massage 6 week course this week so hopefully this will help him.xx

I think another thing for me is I really do like cosleeping. I don't care if DH and I aren't alone in bed... there are other ways to ged BD ... DH is more on the fence about it so I won't force it. My parents coslept with me so I guess that is why I love the cuddles.

It truly is bliss when he falls asleep next to me with his hand on my chest (Baby's not DH's )

That said, cosleeping isn't condusive to sleeping through the night if I am feeding him every time he wakes. If DH decides he is ok with it (especially now we have a king size and as long as I give him some ..ahem) maybe, I can work on cuddling Finley to sleep instead of nursing him... that would be much easier in bed than in the crib...

I think I will give the crib a go first though. Because I do think in the long run it is the better choice for me as much as I like cosleeping.

that is part of my problem, too. I really adore co-sleeping and think they only way I will get Otter sleeping through is to stop it.

But maybe I can still co-sleep during nap times on the weekends.

Abby was 4 months but at 11 weeks premature she was developmentally just over 2 months old. Worked a treat!

I'd say catching them young is a good idea as they wont have developed any poor sleep habits. Definitely getting them when they are pre-mobile helps. Once they can stand or sit up themselves, trying to get them to stay lying down can be a hassle and just add to the frustration!

i was co sleeping through the night after Mylo's first wake as it was easy to just grab him from the moses basket next to me and fall back to sleep straight away.
But hes 6 months now.. only sleeps for 3-4 hours at a time max.. then wakes up.. sometimes doesnt even necessarily want foor or dummy.. just picking up and rocking, cradling back to sleep. Then last week.. I put his crib in his room cos hes out grown the moses basket and the crib is too big to go next to my side of the bed. And hes still waking just as frequently.. however now I go in.. shushhhh him.. turn on the electronic pushchair rocker thats underneath his crib and he drifts back off.. sometimes not even taking a bottle or a dummy.

But Just read that sleep sense thing and have applied for the free thing. Wouldnt mind spending £30 if it gets him sleeping more than 3-4 hours at a time cos I am exhausted and getting more so now I have to physically get up to tend to Mylo in the next room at stoooopid o'clock!
