Swimming tomorrrow. Any tips?

I'm taking Lola for her first swimming lessons tomorrow. It's a bit daunting.

For those who have taken their LOs swimming, do you have any useful tips. What to take, how to organise the changing after the swim......???

dont be dissapointed if she dosnt like it on her 1st trip or crys getting into the water, i just chuck everything in to the bag on the way there and put the swimming nappy n clothes at the top then when im still in the changing roon i put his clothes to get back dressed in at the bottom then his nappy and bum things then a clean towel then his shower stuff then another towel at the top so he dosnt get cold getting out the pool and then the 2nd towel is clean for drying off after the shower. i also put his float in a separate bag and then after i put all the wet things in that bag

hope this helps x

We take a towel to the side of the pool to wrap her up up

Dont be upset if she screams the place down, she will get used to it. Keep alot of eye contact if she is scared.

have fun

Hi

Keep your face at LO level and keep smiling and talking, blow raspberries etc- things that they like you doing at home to make them feel comfortable! Have fun. My LO has been twice but didnt cry at all.

i always have rhys's towel on the top so its the 1st thing i grab out the locker or even better if you can take it to the poolside. also as soon as i got rhys dry and put his vest on he was ready for a feed. so i had milk handy, i'd drip dry and by the time he was fed and dressedn all i had to do was put my clothes on.
also take talc

Hi Sophie!

Joe really like swimming now. He wasn't too sure at first though.
Hopefully Lol will love it too!

I'd say take your towel to the side of the pool.
Limit the first session to 10-15mins; the swimming teacher said not to wait until they start to cry!
Have milk ready or be prepared to breast feed because I think swimming makes them hungry.
I wrap Joe in a towel then get myself changed. He's a warm baby so doesn't get too cold. I can get him sorted better if I am dry!
And enjoy it!!!

Hope to see you Friday at bumps and babies

If you have somewhere to store his car seat I would suggest taking him in to the changing rooms in that...I lay a massive towel in that and when we get out into the changing rooms again I wrap him in it (with a layer in the seat so it doesn't get wet) and quickly get dressed and then dress him.

More often that not he is so tired and cosy he falls asleep in his chair and I have to wake him to dress him!

They will give you all the handy hints and tips but take plenty of towels as you'll need at least two for baby. One immediately out of the pool then another in changing room and they like nice big fluffy ones too to keep them warm. Also take a towelling robe for you so you can get baby dry and dressed but stay warm yourself. Have fun we love it.
