Anyone with experience on this ??

Ladies, I cant seem to find anyone that cant give me some insight in this. We are going on holidays in July for 2 weeks. Zac with be 9 months old. At the moment he is in a routine of going to bed at 7 in his own room he has been doing this since 7 weeks old . On holidays things are going to be different! So my question is, if you have experience with going on hols with you lo , was it really hard because they were not in the own routine ? And when you got home how hard was it to get them back into there routine. As you can tell I am just so afraid that he will be upset because he isnt in his own room and a strange environment, and when he gets back if its going to take us weeks again to get him back to going to bed at 7 in his own room ??

i'd be interested in replies to this too as i'm going away next sunday and my LO will be 8months. A few of my friends have been away and they said their little ones were absolute angels abroad, better than when they're at home! gives me hope!

Me too, I will be going from Thailand to Australia with the LO in june which she will be 7 months and we will be going from 30-37 degrees to 10 degrees.
9 hour flight with a 7 month old could get interesting I can image plus a 2 hour train ride.

I'd also be interested in replies to your post as we are taking LO to spain on Easter Tuesday. He doesn't sleep in his room at the mo but is in a good routine and we hope the holiday doesn't upset his routine

I brought my first little girl away to sapin when she was 9 months old. And like you, she had been in a very good routine from the time she was 8 weeks old! She slept all night through in her own room, so therfore i was quiet worried about taking her on holidays and screwing up her whole routine!

But while on holidays, obviously her routine did go out the window as we were hardly gonna go home at 7 and get her into bed, so we just enjoyed our holiday, and she came out with us at night for meals and so forth and she just slept in he buggy, and then we would tranfere her into the travel cot when we got back to the hotel!

When we got home to Ireland after the holiday it probably took her about a week to fall back into the routine, but we just stuck with her and she was great after the first week, back to the way she had been beforea the holiday!

Enjoy your hols xx

We went abroad when LO was a baby and to be honest she was better sleeping and feeding wise then when were at home

On an evening when we out, she would just fall asleep in her pram as we walked about, just take a buggy that reclines flat so that LO is comfortable if your out for a few hours.

Oh and i can't seem to remember any problem getting back into our routine once we got home .

My friend whose baby is now 10.5 months, has been travelling around the world for 3 months now, through various time zones, without any real problem. I think it takes her a little time to adjust to the time difference, but my friend said that she just follows her LO's lead anyway with feeds and sleeps, they have no real routine, and I think that is probably key. Plus her LO is a VERY placid baby. I would be wary of doing this with Ruby because she will only sleep in her cot or the car.
So if you and your LO are both fairly adaptable and laid back I reckon it'd be fine!
