Anyone here have a breech baby naturally?

My son was an undiagnosed breech (Frank's breech). I was planning a homebirth, but as soon as the midwife discovered he was breech, she rushed me off to the hospital. Where I live, I guess its against the law for midwives to deliver a breech baby. I was already in transition, and by the time I got to the hospital I was already +3. Fortunately, they could not do a C-section on me because of this. There were no complications other than having to have stitches thanks to the doctor keeping her hand there while my son was coming out! (Stupid doctor!) And then, after he was delivered, they gave me Pitocin for the third stage, even though I explicitly told them not to!

Anywho, anyone else here have a breech baby naturally?

I think it is a real shame that there aren't many midwives who are capable of delivering a breech baby safely. We have lost the skill. My Ezio wasn't breech, but if he were, I would have hoped to try a natural delivery. I'm sorry they ignored your wishes, I know how hard that is.

Interested to hear any stories about this!
I was wondering if this was possible as my LO was frank breech until a couple of weeks before he was born. I had a midwife though, so I'm not sure if they are allowed to deliver a breech baby here either.

My understanding is that the current evidence suggests a hands off approach to a natural breech birth. Midwives experienced in Breech birth certainly practice in this way here. Research also now suggests few babies who experience perinatal asphyxia grow to have cerebral palsy. Birth complications are only thought to account for a small number of babies born with congenital cerebral palsy, with cerebral palsy thought to make breech birth more common rather than breech birth causing cerebral palsy.

ETA: Silver-penny, giving any injection here without consent would also be considered assault and a breach of nurse/midwifes code of conduct That's appalling.

****Stillbirth Mentioned****

I delivered Taylor breech, she had already died by this point but it was very easy, she weighed 8lb 4.5oz and she was a footling breech.

Her head took less than 2 mins to deliver, the MW said if the hospital had a breech delivery policy, they may have let me deliver her if she was alive, i would have declined.

TBH i think all babies who are breech should be delivered by elective section, the risks of brain damage are so much higher with a breech delivery.

I wouldn't risk a vaginal breech birth.... too risky for baby in my book. Midwives and doctors are just not experienced in breech delivery.

I know there are some women who want a natural birth no matter what but, for me, the health of my baby comes first.

but that's just my opinion.

I've never met anyone who wanted a natural birth no matter what, just women who think that there are some risks that can be minimized, and sometimes it is possible to have a natural birth despite there being 'complications'.

I was pushed into an assisted, medicated induction, when I think I should have been allowed to for a natural delivery. Next time I'll have someone to fight my corner.

Ava was breech my entire pregnancy because my pelvis was too small for her to engage or me to have a vaginal delivery. They had scheduled me in for a c-section because of it but along with that reason as well because of my blood pressure and anxiety. I ended up having Ava 5 days before my scheduled c-section because my BP went up the roof and they were worrying about the well being of me and her so they went ahead and took her early.

Glad I knew ahead of time though seems to me like having a breech baby would be super painful.
