my son has only fed twice small amounts and slept all day- worried.

Hi, my son is 4 weeks old, but 5 weeks premature. He normally feeds every 3-4 hours and has a really good appetite. However today he woke at 0630, had a feed, went to sleep at 08:00, woke at 09:30, took a small feed of 2oz and has more or less been asleep since then. Have not been able to rouse him hardly all day, have tried him with bottle and nothing. He took very small feed again at 14:30 but hes nowhere near what he would normally have.

He is a bit snuffly today, I am really worried about him. Am due to see the health visitor tom. anyway else had this? x

cant offer much advice hun but didnt want to read and run...

Finley has days when he hardly eats but he makes up for it the next day! not sure if thats ok in preemie babies or not! i would imagine so... is he having lots of wet nappies so hes not dehydrated or anything?

Yes, every nappy so far today has been wet and soiled which has surprised me. I guess yesterday he did feed a bit more than normal and he did have a stint of being awake from 07:30 and didnt go off fully til 12:30 pm yesterday so hoping he just making up for it. Just so worrying all this isnt it! X Thanks for your reply. I am so anxious all the time

i wouldnt think it was anything to worry about hun, just check with the HV tomorrow!

Ava was doing this recently (without the sniffles) and it turned out she was just tired from the day before. She fights her sleep when I bring her out places with me and exhausts herself.

ive been out and about today and hes slept all the time, guess should be grateful he has at least woke crying for food he just did at 5 but only took an ounce and now well away again!
