So angry with my GP Surgery!!! RANT!!!

So Kye is 3 months old tomorrow and i've just thought that i haven't had an appointment through for his jabs. for his first set of jabs they wrote to me with an appointment which they said happens every time his jabs are due. so i just called the surgery now to see where my appointment is as i havent recieved anything in the post, spoke to the receptionist and her reply was " ooopps we forgot to make the appointment, he should have had them on the 12th Feb, the next available appointment we have is 24th Feb"!!! so my sons jabs are 12 days over due!!! what really annoys me is what would have happened if i hadnt have called them??? would they even realised that they havent made an appointment with kye??!!! Grrrr!! when i see the nurse next week im going to complain and ask for my next appointment there and then so i know he's booked in!!!

sorry girlies, rant over! xx

I'd defo ask the nurse to give you an appointment for the next jab Hun.

My surgery did the same with rubies 6 wk check up. Hv said I would told get appointment throught the post and if I hadn't received by 5 wks then I should go in and let them no. So no letter at 5 wk, went in and it turned out they had no record of us. I managed to get us in for 18th feb (7wks). Good job hv said to go in tho or I'd still be waiting. Grr..

I didn't get any notifications. I kept ringing saying he's 6, 7, 8, 9 weeks etc and they kept fobbing me off. In the end OH rang and kept on at them until they 'realised' Theakston had slipped through the net. He had his first lot at 13 weeks I think & again they said that now he's had one set we'd get notified but again I rang up and they had no appointments so they were 2 weeks late & the same happened again with the last batch. They said you could go to 6 weeks max gap I think but I think the last batch was 16days over and they said it would be OK. I tried to book on leaving everytime and they refuse to book them as they insist you'll be sent a reminder or appointment even though I explained what had happened.

My daughter got her 8 week jabs at 9 weeks and her 12 week jabs at 14 weeks.
As long as they get done it doesn't really matter when they are done.

The issure with the surgery is another matter though and I would be angry too!
I was told my daughter was down for her jabs on 4th February, it turns out I was given the wrong information and she was actually down for 11th February. I was not amused!

bit crap ... often the way though! if you want something done seems you always have to do it yourself!
makes no odds when the jabs are done though, they can be done whenever, the 8/12 etc week thing is just arbitary. i know its more that you had to chase it up that youre annoyed though.

zander has always been a week overdue his jags as when he was 8 weeks the health visitor said there wasn't any appointments so a week wouldn't matter. there is an admin lady in the room with the health visitor when she is doing the jags and gives you the next appointment while in the room.

i work in a gp surgery and i know the health visitors are the ones that come through to us if a child has not had some of their jags and asking if they have had an appointment or have they missed appointments etc, so i would imagine something like this would of been picked up for your wee one, as the health visitors have to keep the child health records up to date for when they go to school.

Saying this, what annoys me is the way the receptionist so dizzily said oops we forgot, very unprofessional, they could of least pretend to know what they are doing"

Def as your nurse for the appointment to save this happening again x

That is annoying, some surgeries are so slack.

My LO didn't have his first set of jabs until he was 12 weeks old - it doesn't make any difference

xx
