Baby sling carriers for reflux baby

Hi everyone

I am considering buying a sling carrier for my little Christina as she needs to be held upright after feeds due to her horrible reflux for at least 30 mins but I am suffering with tentonitis and must give myself a break!! I must stop using my arms to hold her! The pain is unbearable!

I was wondering if any of you are using any slings such as the Moby Sling or the Mei Tai and could you give me the low down? My baby is only two months corrected age and doesnt properly hold her head yet. I have a chicco front carrier but it doesnt feel confy at all.

I like the look of both the above but I dont know which one is best for my baby and if they are easy to use. The Moby wrap looks daunting but stunning.

Any advise from experience would be greatly appreciated!

x

I've got a chicco front carrier too and don't get along with it. I use a Kari-Me a lot and it's really easy to use, I think the Moby's are pretty much exactly the same in principle. What is it you wanted to know exactly? And where in London are you? There are various sling meets around where you can go along and people help you try various slings and show you how to tie them etc.

I bought material for a moby wrap style carrier and it's lovely, especially for smallies. But I don't like wearing it inbetween times (I get too warm etc) so I got a ring sling, babasling I think. This is great, I can put it on with one hand while holding LO, I can whip it off quickly - she LOVES it, will happily bob around watching me do chores or go to sleep. It took me a while to get comfy using it though - in the end I got help from a youtube video.

aw both!
my lo doesnt have reflux but suffers really badly with wind, and i was advised to use carriers. i have several! i tried not to spend too much in case lo didnt like them.

baby bjorn - got 2nd hand from ebay. i use this loads and have done from when lo was about 2 weeks old. it supports him really well and although i worried a bit about his head burying in my chest (before he could hold it up at all and it was below the back of it), i'd just turn it to one side. He likes this for walks, shopping etc and sleeps well in it.

mei tai - got 2nd hand from lovely lady on here he liked this for round the house but wriggles a lot in it. i feel that his back is well supported in this. but he gets a bit impatient in it and i'm not sure how comfy he feels.

moby - i have a 'pretend' moby style wrap that someone made, again off ebay. i didnt try this until recently as i thought it looked complicated! but i studied instructions on the moby website, and some massively helpful videos on youtube, had a practice and its really easy. lo quite likes this but bounces about a bit more on walks and wakes up. for round the house though, i find it really useful and can easily do stuff while he's in it. he can also look around a bit more and as he's pressed close to you he seems to be able to burp/fart/poo easier

i also have a babasling that someone bought me, but he's only been in it hammock style, i think when theyre a bit older you can hold them upright in it though.

i find them quite addictive! oh and lo cried quite a bit at first when put in all of them, but a few trips up and down the stairs soon helped

I love Moby wraps (and those similar!) They look complicated but once you get the hang of how to wrap it its really easy and quick to put on and off, I wear mine pretty much all day long and its super comfy.
