Treasure box

Has anyone come across these? I want to make one for Alice to play with and I'm trying to think of good things to put in it.

So far I've got:

silk scarf
shiny coloured cellophane
plastic bottle filled with lentils (cap glued on)
plastic bottle filled with coloured water and oil (cap glued on)
fake fur
oversized buttons
loofah

Has anyone got any other ideas? I've still got loads of room!

i've started one too, so far have got:
- plastic shape cutter (like you use for biscuits)
- plastic spoon
- mini cushion
- little pot filled with mini dried pasta shapes
- little gum massager for teething babies
- pair of scratch mittens (folded so one is hidden in the other)
- door stop

it's not a great box at the mo as i just grabbed some random bits that were safe for her but i intend to keep adding to it and this thread is great for ideas

treasure baskets can have absolutely anything in them and they are fantastic. I work in a nursery and came across these about 12 yrs ago and they are always a big hit with all age groups. Basically you put everyday household items in them eg sponge, chunky dog chains ( sounds horrible but are totally safe and the kids love them ) paintbrushes, tins, wooden spoons etc.. they will keep babies and older children happy for ages!!

This might sound like a daft question but how exactly do you give your LO the box? Do you only start using them when they're sitting up so they can sit next to the box and get things out, or do you pass them things? I'm trying to imagine my LO managing to get things out of a box and I can't! Is she too young?
