For all you emergency C section girls!

I had an emergency C section after a very long and hard labour - Imi was quite poorly and I was just pleased to get her out.

Ever since I had her, I can't stop thinking about what will happen/I will choose to happen next time. It took me a long time to get pregnant and I had a real wish to give birth to her naturally and this still plays on my mind. I did the whole labouring thing (was 10cm gone when rushed to theatre) so I know what that bit is like! And I would like to think that i'd give it another go....

BUT, on the other hand, i could not imagaine having to go through 44 hours of full on contractions (they started at 5 mins apart lasting for 50-70 seconds ish) only to have a section again! With having Imi here i keep thinking i'd be so much better to book in a section and know whats happening - 2 girls on ward with me came in at 7am and had their babies at about 10am and eating toast just after lunch while there was me having not slept for 4 nights (had been in hospital for 2 days prior to going into labour!!) having just had an em c section and losing stupid amounts of blood!

I'm not even PG again but I can't stop thinking about this How do you girls view it and what do you think you'll do if/when you have another? xx

My water broke so I was induced for 20 hrs, but there were no contractions & I was only 1 cm dilated. When my LO heart beat started to fall, they requested an emergency CS. It was really dissapointing, as I had PCOS & I had to go through a process to get pregnant & I was really looking into a natural birth. After all I went through my next delivery would be selective CS as I cant think of going through the trauma again.

I went 14 days overdue with Summer, was admitted for induction on the 14th day at 7am, was a long day!! i'd started having mild contractions at about 5am that morning and stayed the name after 2 pessary's. Before the pessary my cervix was completely closed, nowhere near opening lol, after the pessary's i was 1cm so they said they could try breaking my waters. I was quite emotional as the same kind of thing happened to my mum when she had me and she had a c section.

So they broke my waters and that gave me really strong contractions, they were broken at about 5pm, they were calling in midwives and werent telling us what was going on, i was asking for pain relief which i eventually got at about 6.30 when the consultant came to have a look at the monitor, he said that Summer's heart rate kept dropping with the contractions and i was still only 2cm's (if that!!!). He said if her heart rate went up when he touched her head then it was ok, i thought i heard it go up but he wasnt satisfied so eventually ordered a section and Summer was out by 7.52 :-)

I was completely knackered, found the epidural for the operation quite distressing because i was contracting whilst the man doing it was telling me off for moving! This all went the same way as my mum when she had me. She's not had anymore children so not sure if its a fluke but not going to be risking it again!! Going for a c section next time, cant risk that trauma, was too much for me and my partner, was very scary, especially when Summer came out weighing only 5lb 5ozs.

You just need to make the decision that suits you and you feel comfortable with. There is something like a 25% success rate of VBAC so if you're happy to try it its worth a go to avoid that horrible recovery from a c section xx

I was overdue by two weeks as well. Contractions started and when I asked for an Epidural (as the pain was unbearable) they found my LO was breech! Hence the Emergency C-section..

Would I have another C-section again - yes definately!
Some people may say its the easy way out but to me i dont think I could go through that pain and trauma again...

I had an emergency c-sec with my first, I was in labour for about 36hrs and it was also a very distressing time. Unfortunately I did not have the option with my second baby as my pelvis is too small.
I would do anything for a natural birth
I find the recovery after awfull, both times I have had problems with my wound (still do 11mth later) I hate not being fully mobile after. I would def give natural a go x

I had an emergency c-section as when they broke my waters the cord prollapsed. Beacause of this i had to have a general anaesthetic as well. So the 1st time I got to see let alone hold Abigail she was fully dressed.

Sadly things still did not go right and 5 days after the section the wound ruptured open and I eneded up being rushed back to hospital and then theatre for a second operation. I have found all this very hard to comprehend as I have natural deliveries with my 1st 2.

I am NOT planning on anymore children, even if I was I have been advised not to. So hand on heart I really would not have a section again, only if mine or my baby's health was at risk!
