The thing about trying for a VBAC is that even if you don't get it you will always know that you tried and it's not like labour has to be a terrible ordeal. If you are prepared, relaxed and feeling positive then that sets you up for a good VBAC. As Marley said, if you still end up with a section then nothing is wasted, you will know you needed that help.

I know exactly how you feel. I had a very similar experience and it still haunts me. I want another baby some day but i'm terrified that i'll have another horrific time of it. I still dwell on things because i was so depserate to have a natural birth, i had no meds at all until i had the epidural for theatre. That coupled with my LO not latching on just threw me over the edge, everything that could have went wrong did! I am so thankful that i have a happy, healthy, gorgeous little boy though and that's what i focus on when i feel down. I think next time i would request a section earlier if i thought it was going the same way, with your first you just don't know what's normal and what's not but i'lldefo be more forthright next time around.
