Take a trip to the doctors / speak to your HV.

hiya hun, I agree, see your GP as they can prescribe things to help. If you are breast feeding try to get them to give something other than gaviscon as it needs to go into a bottle.

Also prop up the top of the baby's mattress by putting a couple of towels underneath so he isnt lying flat which can really help but be careful not to make it too high as they can end up almost "crumpling" down if it is too steep.

the babies insides are just immature! it's not your fault in the least. my baby also suffers from silent reflux but she doesn't appear to be in pain so our doctor just told us that she needs time just to grow. but it sounds like your baby could be in pain due to the stomach acid in his esophagus. definitely keep him upright after feedings and as someone else said raising where he sleeps at an angle. good luck at the docs and to your LO!

He threw his last feed up, gotta of been everything, and talk about projectile! geeeez!
seems more content now he's done it tho... i'm kind of scared to sleep tonight... really not comfortable with how he is at all, seems to be getting all feverish at random points - though i havent got a thermometer so cant be sure, but hes really hot, even when i have him with just a nappy on... is breathing is really forced too...

roll on 9pm so i can go to the doctors!!

do i feed him again now hes thrown all that up or just leave him til he cried for more?

Hi, my LO suffers quite badly with relux and have been giving her gavison with very little success then we started her on SMA staydown this week with alittle more success, although she still fetchs a few feeds up but not as much.

You can also get this on presciption from your doctor, good luck hun I know how hard it can be, my LO as had this from about 1 week old and I was bf her for the first 3 months and giving gavison on a spoon this didnt work so I had to express so we could put it in her bottle, it was hard work and very frustrating

I dont think the staydown would help because he really doesnt have much issues with the vomiting part of reflux - have only had the one episode... my doctor said silent reflux is worse because the acid is travelling up and down the iesophagus and no going anywhere causing double the pain...

Hes given me infant gaviscon so ive just put it in his feed, its took over an hour to get 2oz down him cos its so thick! teamed with the comfort milk hes on i think its too much for the teats - any ideas? water down? go up a teat size? hes getting frustrated because its not coming out quick enough, now i know its thicker for a reason but i think were getting double the thickness because of the formula he's on

Hi there

My little one suffers with silent reflux. We had to go up a teat size for the thicker milk, dont water down the feeds as this may not be the best for his digestion.

My Lo suffers a lot and has developed easophagitis due to the acid burning her throat with the vomit going up and then down and not escaping... wish sometimes it wasnt silent reflux as its less painful when projectile.

Lately she started having a feed a day projectile though. She is a much happier baby since this has started. She is on ranitidine and domperidone and those meds seems to help a little bit but not completely.

Some other things that you can do is elevate their basket /cot, put them to sleep on their sides ( to avoid chocking) but only with your Doctors permission, and when supervised sleep on their front with their heads slightly elevated ( again with doctors permission) as they get great relief from the pain in that sleeping position as it prevents any milk coming up the easophagus. After feed try and keep the baby upright for 30 mins and when winding the baby, do it ever so gently try not to pat but rub insted. Also, wind the baby ever few Ozs

x
