When to change LO's pram position?

I have the Britax Vigour 3 pushchair and at the moment I use the carrycot attachment with it.

Elliott is now 11 weeks old and will quite often have some awake time when we go for a walk in the pram. I often put the hood on the carrycot down so that he can have a look around but the view can't be very interesting!!

I have the seat attachment for the pram and was wondering when I should introduce this instead? I will have it parent facing and slightly elevated but it can also lay fairly flat if needed. Elliott has good control over his neck but can still be a bit jerky at times!

He still fits in the carrycot with about 2 inches to spare so there is no desperate rush to change I just thought it would be nice for him to look around.xx

i switched isabel from her carrycot to upright seat (but in quite a reclined position) when she was 12 weeks old as she got really frustrated in the pram and just cried to be carried so she could see, in the end by switching her to the seat it resolved it and she's happy in the buggy now if your LO is happy laying down then its best to keep him there until he has good head control as if they don't have good head control then it can restrict their breathing sitting them upright for long periods

Amy is almost 4 months and we switched her pram into a pushchair at the beginning of the year. She spends SO much more time awake and, although I was nervous not being able to see her the same, she absolutely loves being able to look around

I'd keep him in the carrycot for another month. Amelie was just over 4 months when we switched to the buggy base although we kept it quite reclined still (actually it still is LOL) and I found that the perfect age. He'll prob be more cosy in the carrycot too whilst the weather is still very cold.

Ive only switched at 6 months, at 5 months we were in South Africa for a month and there we used the maxi cosi and on returning home used the oushchair.

My LO also didnt like being flat in the carrycot and hardly slept in it so I used to put a pillow at the back to prop him up, well at least his head, and he liked that.

Thank you ladies. This is really helpful. I was going to leave Elliott in the carrycot for a bit longer it's just great to have an idea for time scales.

Great idea about the pillow too I could always try that.xx

Hmmm I've had my LO in the pushchair attachment since he was 7 weeks. I have it in the horizontal position though.

He hated the pram and quickly outgrew it. He now sleeps in the pushchair far better than the pram and can also have a nosy about when hes awake. Maybe he was too young (and still is) but hes definitely 100% happier during the day now...

Just tried it for the first time this week at 13 weeks old but it was reclined a bit and not "upright". LO was actually a bit too big for the pram now and actually with the cosy toes I think he looks much warmer in the pushchair fitting rather than the pram. He also has very good head control.

I swapped it over this week so Chloe was just over 11 weeks. I wasn't intending to until she had outgrown the pram bit but she woke up after having a nap as soon as I was ready to go out. I felt guilty lying her down again since she had just woken up and was wide awake. She loved it, having a peek at the world passing by. I still reclined it a little though.
