That comparing yourself to other mums and babies can be the most demoralising thing ever - all babies are different people and develop at different stages so not to worry if everyone elses baby seems to be sleeping for hours on end or reciting the alphabet backwards by 2 months old!

I wish I had known how hard the first two weeks would be - I honestly wondered what I had done. My baby blues lasted for two weeks and I wish someone had told me this happens as I thought I had PND. I also wish I had known at the time that it really does get easier! AS others have said, BF REALLY hurts, especially at first, but also how proud you feel when your LO has grown through drinking your milk. Also that you lose the ability to talk about anything else other than your baby as everything else is just not as interesting!

Could have written your post myself! It wasn't until my mum mentioned the baby blues that I had any idea what she was on about. And then over time it all fell into place

I also wish I had known how much time you spend worrying over your LO!

I haven't had my baby yet but all these things (even the bad ones) make me sooo jealous. I can't wait to have her! This is a good thread - a real point of view is always great! Keep it coming mummys! (even if you don't think you're a yummy mummy - you're a fab mummy for bringing a person into this world!)

I didn't know much of anything lol!!!! I agree on the newborn clothes cuz no one buys clothes that small for you, and my LO only fit them for about 2 weeks lol!!! That even baby girls can pee really far when their diaper is taken off (happens to Daddy almost every time) That they have a tonne of energy as soon as they are a few days old.....That BF is really really hard and takes weeks to get the hang of! That your DH really wants to help and can be really good at it

I wish i knew about colic and how hard it is..

I wish i knew that some babies just dont like sleep (15months and still awake ALOT!)

I wish i knew that newborn outfits are just pointless, stick with the sleepsuit

I wish i knew that when someone offers to hold the baby for 5 mins while you grab a shower to make the most of it as come months later there aint that many people offering

I WISH I KNEW THAT EVENTUALLY ALL THE STUFF YOU THOUGHT WERE IMPORTANT LIKE SPENDING TIME WITH FRIENDS, GETTING DRUNK BECOMES AN OCCASIONAL EVENT BUT IT DOESNT MATTER AS THE MOST REWARDING THING IS SEEING YOUR BABY GROW AND THE LACK OF SLEEP BECOMES NORMAL AND YOU GET USED TO IT!! xXx
