| I took Izzy when she was 4 mths to France. The car trip to the airport was only an hour, an hour in the airport, then an hour to cross, about an hour to the house..so in total 4 hours travel...and she coped great!
Even on the way home when we missed our return flight due to being driven into by a french guy..she was great!
As for what to take - that all depends where you are going. My parents live in France so I knew what they had at the house, and that there was a huge supermarket near by. So I only took nappies and wipes for a couple of days and then bought the rest over there. I took enough milk, and we had bottled water over there just in case (probably would have been fine though!)
I took her infant seat...it was cheaper than hiring one over there and I knew it was clean and safe! Also they allow you to transport it in its original box - so you can stuff loads of other things like blankets in the box...for free lol cos they didnt check!
I took about 3 of everything, like vests, sleepsuits tshirts etc...but I knew we had a washer and a drier (but if its hot anyway where you go thats not an issue)
It was hot where we went, very hot, things I would say do not forgot are sunblock for any bits of leg or foot that you just cant shade! A battery fan with batteries that can clip to pushchair. I got a RayShade - its quite big and shaded her much better than just the pushchair hood.
I took a pop up travel cot, which fitted in my suitcase - although I have to admit to leaving it there for them to bring back in the car as it looked tricky to get back in the tiny bag lol
1 tip, if you are flying...take double the milk you need for the flight and travel...and then take the same again lol - flight delays can be an absolute bugger especially when bags have been checked in! I only just had enough after our delay to get to the airport at home!! |
