pram... rear or forward facing?

we have the maxi cosi mura, and up until now Ruby has always been rear facing.. first in the car seat, then into the seat.. When we are out and about now shes craining her neck to see around her, and taking lots of interesting in whats going on...
when did you guys change the seat to forward facing? its really easy to change, so i could even chop & change daily?

i really like being able to see her, and communicate with her, but i have a feeling that she might prefer to face the world a bit more often?

I intend to keep Izzy facing me while she is in the pushchair!

I have read studies which how that there is often a lack of communication when the baby is not facing the parent, it's as important for a young baby (for reassurance and confidence) as it is for a toddler (learning what they are seeing, communication with the outside world etc)

I know that loads of babies of her age are put facing the other way - however I have had many comments from complete strangers about how smiley and chatty she is in the pushchair which some people find unusual.
It may be that she is just a very sociable baby - but I tend to think she is very confident because she is able to see me ..smiling at other people and talking to them. Often a baby facing the other way doesn't see its parents face other than when it gets a face wipe/toy moved etc..bearing in mind that babies learn from what they see their parents do - of course a baby who sees its parent smiling and talking to people will think this is the way to be.

here are a few interesting things to read if want which are about that study, the second one has some very interesting stats! the third link is an awareness group about the difference parent facing pushchairs can make.

we have the mura too and for the last couple of weeks i have mainly been putting him forward facing. he seems much quieter in the pushchair, but gets frustrated when rearward facing. i usd to love having him rearward facing esp when seat was in the middle position cos i could chat with him all the way!

I have the quinny so we chop and change although more recently she has shown a preference to facing 'the world; and now she ill sit for ages whereas when she was facing me she would become ratty after 20 minutes.

i did a short walk forward facing today & she loved it!!!!!
i think i will mostly still rear face if possible, but have her forward facing the odd time, she really enjoyed it and didnt have to break her neck to see what was going on!
