Green watery poo! Sorry if TMI!

Hi all haven't been on in ages as its been very hectic over festive period so happy new year to everyone!

Right...

Cooper is now 4months old and exculsively breastfed. He was doing really well and only pooing one or 2 days a week (but pooing ALOT!) and it was healthy yellow mustardy stools. Suddenly on New Years Days he started having a watery poo halfway through each feed. Sometimes its just water with a few bits of green in sometimes its green and foamy. He is also getting a bit uncomfratble during feeds and fussing alot. He has no other symptoms his fontanelle is no more dipped than normal and is happy other than that. I took him to the doctor on monday (3days in) and he said it was all normal and nothing to worry about, he even refused to look at the nappy I had kindly brought in! He said this could go on indefinatley and he would not be concerned.

I also talked to the HV she said nothing to worry about and agreed with everything the doc said.

The thing is this is NOT normal for Coop at all and he now has got really bad nappy rash because of all the pooing! I am getting a bit worried now regardless of what the doctor and HV have said.

Has this happened to anyone else and did you find out the cause?

Also posting in BF section, hope thats OK mods.

Izzy had/has this, the HV said it was due to teething. They are about the same age so maybe Cooper is teething too?

we had the same thing at that age and it did get better.
green poo can be a number of things. couple of possibilities are:
* stomach bug, just cont bf as normal will sort itself out
* not getting enough hind milk, make sure you offer the same breast again if LO wants to feed again within the hour.
* intolerance to something in your diet, there are several foods that can cause this and its dif for everyone. you could try cutting out different foods one at a time to see if that has an effect

Thanks girls, the teething thing could be it. He has been very drooly and red cheeked lately too. Its just that it has gone on for so long that I have started to get worried.

How long did it take for your LO's to get better? It doesn't seem to be bothering Coop too much (except for the nappy rash) but I think its probably almost more distressing for me because I imagine how I would feel if I had diarhea for a week!

She had for about 3 weeks but not everyday, but sometimes she had two in a day! We havent had any for a while now, fingers crossed. I did all the checks on her- like her fontelle wasnt sunken, she was still drinking her milk, she wasnt lethargic or anything so just rode it out and it did stop.
