| Worried- I have been reading about everyones LOs and am starting to get worried about my little guy. My LO doesn't look at me or smile and he is almost 8 weeks. He also doesn't respond to my voice and shouldn't he be doing all these things by now?? I am really getting concerned!

| Have you spoke to the doctor about this hon? Not saying anything is wrong but perhaps bringing this up to your doctor would be a good idea. | | | | Status: Offline

| Every baby grows at their own pace, dont get too worried, but just bring it up to your doctor see what s/he says. | | | | Status: Offline

| Boys don't make as much eye contact as girls so don't worry about it. Babies smile between 6-10 weeks so lots of time yet, just keep talking to him and making sure you bring your face close to his a lot. | | | | Status: Online

| If you can't shake the sense of worry or feel like something is wrong, bring it up to your doctor hun. They will be able to reassure you that babies develop at their own pace, or they will be able to investigate further. | | | | Status: Online

| Dom was the same - he didn't appear to respond to my voice or smile, he didn't start smiling until he was 8 weeks. It worried me as Harrison started smiling at 6 weeks, but each baby develops at their own rate. If your worried, you could always speak to your gp or health visitor x | | | | Status: Offline

| dont worry to much, every baby is different, Gerald only really started to smile at about 7-8 weeks and then I really had to perform and work for to get a smile, now at almost 10 weeks he greets me with lots of smiles in the mornings... Gerald really smiles when I touch his cheeks and when I smile and grin at him also when I push my tounge out to him and pull faces at him ... | | | | Status: Offline

| Evan had only smiled a couple of times when he was 9 or 10 weeks. We got to 11 weeks and suddenly all he seemed to do was smile and make eye contact!
I was starting to think something was up, but he got there in his own time | | | | Status: Offline

| If he was 8months and not reacting as you say then I'd be worried but the window for smiling and eye contact is a few months. Talk to HV as OP suggest but I wouldn't be worried at all. And I'm a major worrier though my LO is now 13 months! | | | | Status: Offline
