Thanks girls! He's much better tonight - his two front teeth have broken through the gum, and although his thigh is badly bruised the rest of the reaction(s) seem to have calmed down. No more hives (he was just covered this morning), the leg isn't hot or swollen other than the bruise itself, and his fever is down.

Our poor little babies have to go through so much with all the vaccines and teething in the first year, it's amazing how resilient they are!

Our doctor actually called us and asked us to come in. There are flu clinics going on all over the city, but those at high risk like babies and the elderly don't have to go line up - we didn't know until the doc's office told us, but you can just take a baby in and they'll give them the shot with no waiting. The government is trying to prevent the spread of the flu, so they're encouraging everyone to get the shot and I think they're just trying to make it as easy as possible for high-risk patients. We weren't looking forward to standing in line for four hours with a baby, so we were quite happy to take him to the doctor's instead!

Dali - we will give the doc's a call tomorrow (they're not open on weekends) and let them know how he reacted. They collect statistics on reactions, and it will also go into his medical record which I think is important - that way they'll know for his MMR at 12 months and any other vaccines that there's a potential for a bad reaction. I know in some cases they give different types of vaccine or do things differently for kids who have bad reactions, so it's important to me that they know.
