Our daughter had one before she was 12 months because she didn't thrash around in bed and we lived in a single glazed house at the time. It was freezing in the winter!

With our first son I waited because he loved (and still does) to have a blanket over his head when asleep

I use a quilt with Amelie and have since she was 6 months old. She's NEVER once pulled it over her face. Besides, even if it did go on her face, she'd pull it off

I know what the guidelines are, but Lexie has had one since 3 months, when she went into her cot. I just tuck it right under the bottom of the quilt and still have it so she is feet to foot and can't pull it over her head.

(not saying that what i do is right, but just what i do!) xx

its from tescos, its thinner than a grobag, but is all fleecy and warm and keeps her little tootsies warm cos there's proper feet in it!

Cos i was just thinking have - "if i put 1 more blanket on her it will be as thick as a quilt anyway" so whats the harm and shes never once put her blanket over her face more likely to kick it off!

I've used a quilt on very cold nights - I just turn it sideways so that gives me the extra length to tuck it right under the mattress on each side, there'd be no way he could pull it anywhere lol.

Elyse uses hers already. FFS I live in Canada, it's cold!! I can't justify putting myself under a sheet, duvet, and blanket with my jammies on and then not having a comforter on her, esp. as her crib is near a window.. no draft there but it does seem cooler on her side of the room.
