Yes, think it's written in every parents manual 'excessive worrying comes as a 'must have' for this role'.

I just need to calm myself at times, but find it so hard.

We've got a sound monitor, and just bought a movement/breathing monitor - unfortunately it doesn't work in her Moses basket, so we're getting a cot asap. Which monitor do you have? We have a 'repisense'.

We've got the Angel Care it's excellent it worked in her Moses Basket also because one morning I was taking her into living room so lifted her out being all quiet as to not wake Daddy up only forgot to turn off the alarm and it went off Poor Daddy jumped outta bed nearly getting a heart attack..... ooopp's...
We've got the Tommie Tippe one then for my Parents house as we've everything doubled in my parents house as to not have to drag everything over this is very good also....They're so much help.....

I also used to really worry about swine flu, but now i dont really liam wont be getting the jab he has only been ill once with a viral infectione once since being born so i think hes a tough boy. As for SIDS its one of my worst ever fears infact its my worst the other morning my OH had left for worked and foned me and he was like r u just up? em yeh what times it? he says half past 9 i was so scared dropped the fone and ran through the room and shook liam awake which he didnt like too much but i was just so scared. Now i know hes like his daddy and loves his lay ins. I make a point in checking him 3 times a night once around 9pm, 10pm and the once before i go to my bed but hes just about one now but the fear im afraid will always b there x

if you put a solid base in the moses basket it should work... a piece of wood or ive heard some people using a large book to set it on? it just needs a sold base to work from.

I'm exactly the same. My HV was a bit worried when she did her first visit and I kept starting conversations with, 'What do I do if he catches Swine Flu/Chickenpox/Colds?'. I also have panic attacks when I wake up in the night that something horrible would have happened whilst I am sleeping. My DH thinks I'm crazy but it's reassuring to know it's normal. Sometimes I wish someone could travel back from the future and tell me that all my kids will be ok and then I could relax a bit

Well I can honestly say that I was exactly the same. In fact, I checked on my LO 10+ times a night until she was at least a year old. She shared a room with us until she was 10 months.

We moved house just after she turned ten months, and I bit the bullet and moved her into her own room. I have found that I adjusted naturally. When we first moved I was terrified and crept into her room a lot. THen I stopped doing that, and I would get the baby monitor, turn the volume up full and listen to her breathing, at least 10 times a night. Then it slowly dropped, and I turned the sensitivity down on the monitor (it was on full so you heard every little movement) so that it would only come on if she actually made a sound (like if she groans in her sleep or rustles one of her toys).

Now I don't check on her. I am secure in my belief that she is fine - she is 15 months old and she's been fine so far so why wouldn't she be fine now??

And, I would just like to add, that anxiety is a symptom of PND. You don't have to feel sad to have PND, thats a common misconception that makes women like us feel inadequate because we are scared. What you are feeling is perfectly normal. IF it gets out of hand, don't be afraid of going to your GP.
