6 week old just frightened life out of me

I was giving her folic acid which she has to take through a syringe and she was crying when I was giving it to her, then she like chocked on it, like she couldn't get her breath and it had gone down the wrong hole. I was so scared as she went quiet for a few seconds, I patted her back and it took her a while to make a noise, well maybe a few seconds, but seemed a life time. Has this happened to anyone?

I feel really on edge now as hubby away, but she is fine in herself

The same thing happened to me both times i tried to give my LO gripe water in a syringe!

someone suggested skirting into the side of the cheek. but I refused to try again and i was dipping his dummy in it and giving it him that way!

*hugs* she'll be fine

The cheek way works good, also I gave gripewater on a spoon and she took it quite easily.

If she holds her breath I was told to blow on her face to make her breathe

luca does this when he refluxes sometimes doc said babies have a great way of fixing it themselves.. just takes a few seconds... if it happens again at anytime open the fridge door and stick them in it. or put her outside really quickly.. they cold shock stops it for some reason! we do it on a daily basis!

That happened to us, we got some syringes from the chemist but they kept sticking, and we needed to give LO some gripe water I was trying to ease the syringe but it shot down his throat while he was crying. Thank god hubby was there I was beside myself shaking and crying as he was choking I though the worst was going to happen.
