Last week my HV came to weigh Caitlin and do her hearing test. When she was about to weigh her she said ok lets get HIM weighed, i commented and she appoligised and i thought no more of it.
WEll, she then did the hearing test, which was fine and filled in the details in her red book. She tore the page off which was her copy to be sent away.
Well later on i was reading her red book and she had filled in the form as LIAM.

Well today i took Caitlin to the clinic to be weighed, and mentioned i wasnt happy about what had happened. To which she replied that my usual HV was a very busy woman and these things happen. She said she cant change it until the computors pick up the mistake, and im to expect caitlins jabs appointments to come through in the name Liam.

The usual HV is meant to be visiting next week, and i dont feel like letting her near my baby. I dont think shes very professional, and im angry that i have to wait for a computor to pick up her mistake before my childs records come through in the right name/gender.

Sorry if this doent make sense, im just raging at the moment as i really thought they would sort it out.

Im not sure whether i should put a complaint in, and if so who i should send it too?.
Sould they have given me a new red book with the correct name and details in ?
Plus the same day the HV did the hearing test she said the results were back from her heel test and she would fill them in, so how do i know shes put the right childs results in ?

Id complain to someone higher up

I don't think I'd want her near my LO either.. Where the hell did she get Liam from?

Can you request to see another HV at all? I don't buy the whole "she's very busy blah blah mistakes happen". Mistakes like that shouldn't happen - it just proves she wasn't paying attention!

Would i make the complaint to the clinic or is there someone else id have to complain too ?

I would complain big style!!! What if something was needed official and they wouldnt accept it cos they have changed not only your babes name but her sex as well?!

Its not a small thing either, and im sorry if they are busy, but would they like it if it was done tot here child, i would probably get petty and keep calling her the wrong name!!!xxx

I'd complain to the clinic manager to begin with.

I definatly wont be letting her near my baby again, thats for sure.

You should be able to change it there and then! They managed to change Emmas surname in the system easily enough.

Still cant believe she filled it in wrong tho!! My HV had it all filled in before she came and she asked me to read through and check it was ok whilst she checked Emma.


Just had a thought to...................when they are born they are registered and given their NHS number, so in the main system it MUST be that she is down as Female - as if it isnt then you wouldnt have been able to register her birth as the form from the hospital would be wrong. So hopefully its just her name

i used to have to tlel my MW Joshua's name very time she came.. but it didn't bother me i would rather she got it right!
