Crying at the birth

So I spent most of the pregnancy crying with happiness and sadness and lots of crying after he was born but I didn't cry when Dexwas born and neither did my OH.

Did anyone else not cry when their baby was born. You always see people in movies sobbing and dads fainting. Anyone else experience any of this or are they hard nuts like myself and my OH. Even my OH dad cried.

I had tears in my eyes both times, but my OH (Caidan's dad) cried when he was born. I think it was more because he had given up hope of ever being a dad (he is 40) and he was simply overcome. It was lovely to witness though.

I didn't cry properly until we got him home the day after.

At the birth there was too much going on. Midwives all around, me bleeding, hubby making phone calls etc and while I did well up when hubby started crying while my stitches were being done (I was holding Earl and he was just lying there staring at us) it took my a day or so for the adrenaline to die back and the true scale to sink in.

With me my real tears came when we had got Earl home, I fed him and changed him while hubby was unloading the hundreds of bags out of the car (why are we told to take ALL that stuff with us? anyhoo....). Once he was finished I walked through to the kitchen and hubby had taken out the video camera and popped some music on for Earl (he gets soothed by any form of music) and the Eagles 'New kid in town' came on.....total coincidence, but I just burst out crying (welling up now actually!). We have the whole thing on video, you couldn't have written that moment, it was magical and will be with me forever. Every time that song comes on I cry like a baby - here are the lyrics so you get the full picture:

There's talk on the street; it sounds so familiar
Great expectations, everybody's watching you
People you meet, they all seem to know you
Even your old friends treat you like you're something new

Johnny come lately, the new kid in town
Everybody loves you, so don't let them down

You look in her eyes; the music begins to play
Hopeless romantics, here we go again
But after awhile, you're lookin' the other way
It's those restless hearts that never mend

Johnny come lately, the new kid in town
Will she still love you when you're not around?
There's so many things you should have told her,
but night after night you're willing to hold her,
Just hold her, tears on your shoulder

There's talk on the street, it's there to
Remind you, that it doesn't really matter
which side you're on.
You're walking away and they're talking behind you
They will never forget you 'til somebody new comes along
Where you been lately? There's a new kid in town
Everybody loves him, don't they?
Now he's holding her, and you're still around
Oh, my, my
There's a new kid in town
just another new kid in town
Ooh, hoo
Everybody's talking 'bout the new kid in town,
Ooh, hoo
Everybody's walking' like the new kid in town
There's a new kid in town
Theres a new kid in town people started walking
There's a new kid in town
I don't want to hear it
There's a new kid in town
I don't want to hear it
There's a new kid in town
There's a new kid in town
There's a new kid in town

I'm off to bawl my eyes out now!

i was crying like a baby when my daughter was born-just overwhelmed with emotion i reckon, i was crying when my son was born but not as much, dunno if that was to do with how fast everything seemed to go or because i knew what to expect
