Baby wheezing/Sounds like she has a frog in her throat??? Help please ??

Hi,

My baby girl is 2 weeks old on sunday she was born 5 weeks early and the last few days she sounds like she has a frog in her throat she keeps trying to clear it and cough it up but nothing is coming up??
She gets more and more frustrated with it and at night time is much worse am not sure whether or not i should take her to the hospital or not to get checked out??
The midwife said earlier in the week it was prob to do with the fact that the fluid on her chest from her not having a natural delivery was why she was trying to clear her throat but it seems to be getting worse.
Anyone have any advice please ???

If it is getting worse and she seems like she is struggling then I would take her to see the out of hours GP. If you cannot get hold of them then take her to the hospital. There is alot of bugs going around and babies are prone to bronchiolitis. Obviously if she doesnt seem like she is struggling then try calling the GP or NHSDirect.

It also could be reflux. Does it sound like something is caught in her throat? Do you notice if it is worse after a feeding? And do you feel a rattle on her back? It really could be reflux which is VERY common with preemies.

I would get her checked out and ask about reflux...Good luck!

Does she lay flat on her back? If so, try raising her bed slightly, it could still be mucous on her chest?
