Manual vs Electronic Breast Pumps?

What do you reckon? I'm clueless as usual!! Mothercare have a 33% sale off Tommy Tippee breast pumps, and I already have the Closer to Nature Steriliser, so it would make sense to get the matching pump.

Does anyone use the TT range? And what do you think? Also, my sis-in-law bought the Medela (?) Swing Pump which she says is great, although it cost nearly £90. Are they worth it?

Many thanks,
Caroline

Really depends how you are pumping? I pumped exclusively for 6 weeks and started with a manual but sitting expressing for an hour after feeding her for 1 hour was waaaaay too much. I then got a Medela Freestyle double electric! If its just the odd bottle and manual is fine IMO

That's a good point; i'm going to express some and freeze it for when I want to go out without Alexander for more than a couple of hours, or when I need an extra few hours sleep so OH can take over a 4am feed at the weekend. So probably no more than one bottle feed a week.

I think manual should be ok, the Closer to Nature Manual pump has really good reviews, although if I had the money I'd be buying one like yours!!!

Many thanks
Caroline

I bought the medela mini, its about £50 and worth the money IMO. The TT manual was pisser to clean and I hated it.

I pumped for one feed a day (well, night. I didnt like getting up at 4am) and I had the mini electric from medela, I borrowed one and then bought one.. you can get them quite cheap from ebay. I think I would have ended up with arms like popeye I used the manual one I was lent.

My friend who is a BF supporter says some women have more success with a manual, and some more with an electric. I didn't get any more milk out with an electric or any faster but it hurt my hand a lot less!

My medela manual pump is really easy and a LOT less exspensive than an electric pump. Plus it's easy to bring to work
