My LO is constipated ALOT of the time.....

My LO will be constipated every 2 or 3 days! he will have 1 day where he will have 1 massive poop( normal for him ) Then he will go a day without having one but be in alot of discomfort with it.

I dont really know what to do for him,we have tried giving him a sip of water,also once tried really watered down orange juice as i was at a complete loss at what to do...nothing works

He used to get like this once every few weeks but now its more like every other day.

Surely this isnt normal?

Oh and he is formula fed

my LO had this and i put it down to her milk she was on SMA gold now i changed her to aptamil and she is fine, much happier, my HV told me SMA had that effect on alot of babies

what milk is he on ?

ive always found sma gold good for both of my children but when they got constipated always tried water and a slither of soap around the bum, helps it 2 ease up. x

what milk is he on ?

he's on Cow&Gate Hungry Baby milk but he's been on this since he was 6 weeks old and always been fine,its only in the last 3 weeks that he has been like this

I think I read somewhere on here that when formula fed babies are constipated, switch to the formula in the ready made up cartons for a bit because it contains a preservative that the normal stuff doesn't, and the preservative is also a mild laxative. Might help!

My LO is the same way...she will go 2 - 3 days without pooing at all and then have a blowout. Her dr said its ok for them not to go but every couple days. Sometimes it doesnt seem to bother her so I dont worry too much about it. However, other times she screams like she is in pain so I will give her 2oz apple juice but it takes a few hours to work and sometimes not at all. So for quick releif for her when she seems to be in a lot of pain I bought some suppositories and those help TONS...she will usually have a BM within 5min.

Sorry TMI but is the poo like a little hard pellet when it comes out? That's constipation....Ruby often goes a day an half without pooing, she's on the same milk as Connah. But if the poo isn't hard, they're not constipated...

My little man went through a stage like this to the point his bum would bleed. I found lifting his knees to his chest and holding for a while helped him. Sometimes I still have to do this to help him. The HV said he wasnt constipated though because it wasnt hard (sorry tmi) and that some babies just make alot of noise and go bright red etc and take a long time to do the do ! LOL. I found that if I offered water with about 2 oz of baby apple and pear juice in a bottle did it warm he would drink loads, sometimes a whole little avent bottle. I didnt mind him having a bit of juice if it helped him poo.
