Standing up in cot at nap time

Hi

My LO is 8 months and up until a few days ago has been really good at settling himself to sleep in his cot at nap time. However he has now discovered he can pull himself up on the cot bars and stand in his cot, so for the last couple of days when I've lay him down in his cot for a nap he pulls himself up and either stands there crying or does laps of the cot!

Should I just leave him to it and hope that eventually he realises he is tired and lays down to sleep, or should I go back in his room and keep laying him down till he stays down?!

I think you should just leave him to roam about in his cot as long as he is safe and don't try to climb out of it or anything. I guess he is just entertaining himself...as soon as he is tired I guess he will just lie down and go to sleep. It would just be to exhausting to keep going and laying him back down because he's only gunna get up and do it again. My guess is as soon as he is tired "playing" he'll lie down and go to sleep.

Euan did this for the first time today i thought the bars were too tall for him, he is pulling himself to stand with everthing else. He was crying so i went into his room to investigate and he was up at the bars knocking his head repeatedly off the corner...hmmm. I am sure if he is not upset then he will get himself back down again.

I used to try and get Finn to lie down but it's futile and he lies down when he is tired and ready- sometimes without crying, even. You just find them in weird positions.

Just leave him to wear himself out - then get the camera out to take pictures of the funny positions he's sleeping in!! We've got loads of Freya like that. She didn't used to stand and cry though - she'd jump up and down with a huge grin on her face!
