Signs of a growth spurt

Stupid question -
How do you know if your LO is having a growth spurt?

I always miss the signs until the end! For us it's a week or two of night waking, fussing on the boob, general stroppiness, then 3days of feeding & sleeping and then 1 day of mostly sleeping. And rancid nappies!!

General signs if you're breastfeeding are fussiness on the boob, feeding frequently and for longer periods (we had a 3 1/2 hour feed monday night on top of 20min feeds every hour or two), change in sleeping habits - either waking in the night or sleeping loads. They can also get nasty nappies and wind from the gorging and snoring! I was told if they're snoring they're growing.

I assume it's the same for ff babies but I don't know how you go about upping feeds etc.

In simple terms, they turn into a monster! lol Eating all the time or not eating; not sleeping; whinging; unsettleable; everything difficult!
