| My baby just won't sleep during the day! Finlaye is 7weeks old, and getting him to sleep during the day is such a mission! I shouldnt really moan because he sleeps fairly well at night, but he has been like this since birth- who said newborns sleep most of the day?! Its starting to worry me that he isnt getting enough sleep during the day as i read somewhere babies this young shouldnt b awake for more then 45mins....
This is a typical day (give or take as not in a strict routine yet)
5.30am Awake/ Bottle
7am-asleep
7.30am-awake
8.30am-Asleep (school run)
9am- Awake (back from school run)
9.30am- Bottle
10am-1.30pm- Asleep/awake/asleep/awake/asleep/awake only naps up to wenty mins at a time.
1.30pm- bottle
2.30- asleep (school run)
4pm-Awake
5.30pm-bottle
6pm-9.30pm- aAsleep/awake/asleep/awake/asleep/awake only naps up to wenty mins at a time.
9.30pm- Bottle
10.30- asleep....
1am-Bottle
2am- asleep.
So all in all he has about 8/9ish hours sleep in a 24hour period...?? | | | | Status: Offline

| Sounds like your LO is a just going to be a cat-napper for now. Every baby is different. If your LO is content enough when he is awake, then don't worry about it. Your schedule looks ok. | | | | Status: Offline

| This was my baby's schedule. He would not sleep more than 30 min. during the day until he was about four months old. I couldn't get anything done around the house. I guess he just grew out of it, which was great because none of the books that I read about napping offered any kind of a solution for us. He sleeps 1-2 hours now several times a day. But those first few months were rough! | | | | Status: Offline

| My LO has now been awake since 10am so I know how you feel. Its a struggle getting her to stay asleep day and night. I'm hoping she will grow out of it as she gets older. She's 10 weeks. | | | | Status: Offline

| My LO only sleeps for 30 minutes at a time during the day too. Very rare for him to nap longer. It gets so tiring, does it?? And like yours, he sleeps for longer stretches during the night. | | | | Status: Offline

| Does he get cranky when he's awake? My baby has days when she has difficulty napping... and I will spend hours rocking/nursing/putting back to sleep.. just like yours. I chalk it up to growth spurt, tummy pains, or overstimulation. Other days she sleeps just fine.. 2-3 hours at a time. | | | | Status: Offline

| My LO sounds the same and that is on a good day. I have so much trouble getting him to sleep. He fights it so much and don't know why. I try everything when he fights it. He is a gassy baby, but I give him gas drops. So I know he is not hurting. He just doesn't want to sleep I guess he thinks he is going to miss out on something. He is fighting his sleep as I type this. I feel so sorry for him because I don't know what to do. Any advice ladies? | | | | Status: Offline
