SHe wont stop crying!

OK, my daughter is 6 weeks old. I can't put her down! Se cries all the time..unless you are feeding her. She eats 6 oz every 4 hours dosn't spit up but burps a lot and always has gas. She struggles to poop and when she does it is one tiny little hard ball. I give her prune juice once in a while just to clean her out. I am loosing my mind! I can't put her down. She is only happy when she is held and I cant hold her all day! Even right now she is in her crib crying...i am trying to let her cry herself to sleep but i dont think it will work..I always go in and get her b/c I feel so bad for her.
I have no idea what to do for her. She is on Soy formula which helps but why does she always cry? I hate her hear her upset!
Anybody know what I can do or what the problem might be?

Have you spoken to your HV or doctor about the poo? I was told that my baby's poo was normal and it is mustardy so would want to check it out if it was solid. But then my baby is BF and it might be completely different.

I had to let my little one cry themselves to sleep when they got really overtired. It was putting them down for 5 followed by picking up for 2 and quietening them until he fell asleep. It was really hard to do but he got the sleep that he needed.

Wind is a right pain isn't it. My LO's wind has got so much better since he had his tongue tie cut. I'm also hoping that he will grow out of it in the next couple of months.

I would definitely look into switching formulas. I BF, but I don't think their poo should be hard regardless. As for the gas, try bicycling LOs legs when she's lying down. You can also try to drape her over your arm like a maitre d. It doesn't always work, but might help sometimes. Have you tried getting a sling or Baby Bjorn? My LO hated the sling at first, but it was a lifesaver once he got used to it.

She shouldnt be struggling to poo like not if shes having the normal amount of milk - speak to your HV they may suggest watering down the milk i.e 5 parts milk to 6 parts water, unsure if she should be having prune juice like

Max struggles to poo most days too because he's on gaviscon. We were watering down his feeds (4oz formula 5oz water) and that did seem to work, but now he's on 5oz of formula and can't hold down 6oz of liquid so we've had to stop that and plan to start him on prune juice just to clear him out every few days. Our HV said the prune juice wouldn't do any harm long term and if it's what he needed to make him more comfortable it'd be worth it!

As for the crying, I have no suggestions! Max cries through colic so it only lasts for 3-4 hours and he's inconsolable, but for us it does stop and then he's happy to be put down. I feel your pain though!

Soy formula commonly causes constipation. Are you using soy because you suspect troubles with milk? You could try nutramigen or the like and see if that helps at all.

From what I've read (and experienced) 6 weeks is the peak crying period for non-colicky full term babies. So you just might be at the height of it and see things improve naturally with time.

Ahhhh. Agree with others about getting poo checked out.

My daughter now 3months was a high need baby who cried all time (felt like that) I swaddled her in the end and came to terms with fact she wasn't too keen on the outside world & just needed holding & reassuring... It will be just 6 weeks more extra time but it will pass, do what she wants u to do, she is still so young & new.

Mine now is past the fussiness, they cry to get attention as they need you, it will get less & less. Swaddling & dummy helped me.

she sounds constipated my baby was like this and screamed all the time unless i picked him up.
there is a special milk for constipation and there is also a powder you put in the normal milk that helps as well. also massage her tummy with some oil, she might hate this and scream but it honestly helps, when i did it sometimes my baby would poo right then! and give her some tea, the one that is for babies it helps as well, i know what your going through and i used all these tricks and it soon went away.
also put the tip of a thermometer and move it in crcular motions in her bottom, everything i told you was told to me by my pediatrician
