Opinions please!

Hi

Have a bit of a dilema and am not sure what to do. My husband has managed to get us a free flight to Las Vegas (we are from the UK) for next May. At that point my wee one will be 10 months old. My mum and dad have offered to watch the wee one for the 7 days we are away but I am not sure what to do, they have offered to stay at our house so not to confuse the wee one. I am worried that with me and my husband being away that long she will be unsettled and also dont want everyone thinking I am a bad mother! We are having a night out (the first one since the wee one was born) next month and am wondering whether to wait to see how I feel after one night away.

Any advice, any mothers that have left the baby at home before?

See how you feel with one night away. My LO has a night away every month and that gives us a break. Were going away for 3 days the end of this month and LO will be staying at grannies though im dreading that one!

I couldn't leave amelie for 1 night let alone 7 I think you'll miss your baby terribly and not enjoy yourself if I'm being honest.

Personally I just wouldn't enjoy myself, even knowing that LO is fine and well looked after!

Are you planning on breastfeeding? At that age, a separation of that length of time, it is possible/likely that they'd wean prematurely.

TBH, I couldn't spend a night away from LO, let alone a few days.

Could you not take baby?

Also, what age is usual seperation anxiety? I think a week at that age wouldn't be good for LO.

Think it starts around 8-9 months.

My sister went to Thialand for 2 weeks when my nephew was 5 months. I am pretty sure her LO was fine. She left him with my parents.

Maybe leave your LO with your parents overnight beforehand so he/she has time to feel comfy with them.

I have left my LO for a two seperate nights and its been fine, though not something I want to do regularly and I couldnt wait to get home to her, and I think I am not clingy!! Your little one will be fine with the grandparents it will be tougher on you I think!
