Under pressure

I was out to lunch with Finley last week, and he was crying in the cafe, i think that this was mainly because of teething! this does not normally bother me because people expect children to cry sometimes but there was an elder lady staring at us. Eventually Finley calmed down and the lady said to me 'What is wrong with him' , i couldn't believe she was so rude. I said that he was teething and she said that she has never seen anything like it. She said that her grandaughter was always so good so she is not used to it!

I really had to bite my tongue. Just wonder why people have to be so rude sometimes! It honestly makes me feel really nervous now when i go out.

The only good thing about the story is that her granddaughter was playing on the swings later and when she went to get her to leave she turned around to her gran and said ' I am not leaving, you leave', she turned to me completely embarrased.

there are lots of miserable people out there. It must be very draining for them to have to find all those faults all thetim. I was at a pub with a friend once next to a big kids playcentre and an old man complained about the kids she was minding- they were just having fun. really, if you want a quiet drink dont go to a kid friendly pub and sit next to a playcentre. it's not rocket science!

My sister was with me at the time and she was just saying to me 'don't get stressed out by Finley's behaviour, it is what kids do and nobody is even bothered' and thats when the women decided to let herself known.

Just think that mum's have enough stress without other people making you feel worse.

i hate it when people stare at you if the baby is crying, alys was having a complete hissy fit once on a day out at a local farm and she was going red in the face whilst i was opening a carton of her milk to put in her bottle and these two women were staring at me like i didnt feed her ffs, ignore them hun i do, they need to get a grip if they think babies wont and shouldnt cry

How rude...how dare she, she was a mother once, hence the granddaughter...I can't believe people's impatience with children, they are such a joy and yes they do cry, shriek, squeal etc...I don't think I would have been able to bite my tongue but then can't say until it happens to me. I think you did the right thing.
I laughed when I read the bit about her granddaughter chatting back to her grandmother...hhmmmm model granddaughter, I think not....

So many people seem to just want to disapprove on principle. Odd, when as another thread shows, there are plenty of things to genuinely disapprove of! I seem to have a very chilled-out baby who rarely cries so I have never really got used to public melt-downs - when they do happen I get in a complete flap still!

i think a lot of "OLDER" people seem to think they have a right to comment on everything!!

i was on a bus once when an old fella started going on about how prams shouldnt be allowed on buses! well he got a mouth full from me!

and then another bus another day another old fella moaning about a mum being on the bus with a doulble pram and how in his day mums used to walk everywhere with their children and how mums today are lazy getting buses

i had to bite my tongue that day!!!

im sure they think in their day kids didnt cry
