baby that wakes themsleves up farting!!!

i have a 6 week old baby who is mostly breast fed (has a few bottles if we are out and about!) the thing is he only poos every 3 or 4 days. I am not worried about the amount of time between each poos as all of the health visitors say that this is normal...however... when he hasnt had a poo for 1 or 2 days he starts to fart and looks like he is in complete pain every time he farts...he has been crying for about 2 hours with this this afternoon...went to drs with it yesterday and she reccomended colief which we have started trying..but just got him off for a nap and he has woke himself up farting and in pain...any ideas of what could help?

Kian does this! He's always been such a fartyfarterson and they r huge loud big people style farts. He wakes up seemingly in pain, wiggling around and crunching up until he lets a massive one rip! i found a few things helped but nothing has stopped it all together- when feeding him sit him up a bit more...laying back too much makes them swallow air. Wind him for a really long time, and try having a little wind b4 a feed to let anything thats built up between feeds out. I also find a bit of gripe water b4 bed helps a bit. I know this last one is a personal choice but i find he's loads better when he sleeps on his front so i've started putting him down on his tummy now instead and its helped loads.
good luck...i think its something they'll just grow out of x

I hear these crampy/farts will ease off after 6 weeks *hugs* my baby used to be the same now when he farts he is rather pleased with himself and not in pain at all, its just their intestines working and getting mature
