Immunisations - Hints and Tips

Ok, so I am reeeeally dreading taking Freya for her third set of injections next Tuesday, and have been thinking of stuff I can do to help her not mind it so much - she screamed the place down the last two times .

I have thought of:

Putting something cold on her legs afterwards for 10 mins or so.
Feeding her straight after.
Taking a toy that she likes with us (her fav currently is a huge neon green donkey called Chris, not sure how I'll feel with that in the waiting room!).
Obviously lots of hugs and cuddles.
Calpol.

I know that some babies don't give a hoot about being injected, but for those that have babies who do mind, any other handy tips?

do you breastfeed? I found that feeding whilst the injections were taking place helped. By the third set I had already given up tho.

I give Ruby a small dose of calpol beforehand. Not sure how 'scientific' that is though.

The main thing though - keep calm yourself! Easy said I know, but Freya will pick up on you feeling anxious. I try and be playful with Ruby in the waiting room and in the actual nurses' room. Ruby cried at her first 2 lots but soon forgot about it.

Argh!! i too have to take Olivia for her 3rd lot of jabs on tuesday!!

I'll be giving her some calpol 10/15 mins before. We usually have a little play in the waiting room and of course lots of kisses and cuddles!

I also make sure that day she wears something easy to pull up rather than something she has to take off as they dont like getting dresses afterwards
