Worried about Swine Flu?

Is it just me or is everyone else terrified their baby will get swine flu?!

on the news it was saying it is spreading so fast they predict 100,000 new cases a DAY by august, and 40 deaths a day

the immunisation wont be available until september sometime and thats for people at higher risk!!

am i being over-dramatic or is this a worry for everyone!?

xx

I not hugely worried yet, the figures do sound scary though. I think all we can do for now is love and look after our babies like we are so they'll be as healthy and strong as possible if they do get flu or any other illness.

archie was in hosp this week and we had a case of swine flu next door, i had a good chat with the pediatrician and he reassured me that so far in the uk all of the swine flu cases are mild and just like getting the normal flu, the deaths from it have been caused by undelying health conditions such as bad asthma or heart conditions coupled with the new strain of flu

i am still worried about archie getting it as hes not a very stong boy atm but trying not to panic

To be honest, any kind of flu in a young baby is rough. So, I'm not too worried about swine flu per say, I'm just always generally worried about Valerie getting sick with anything. I know the numbers make Swine flu look awful and like it's spreading fast, but you have to remember that this is the way the regular flu was before they tamed it down and started vaccines and stuff. Just live each day and feel blessed that your baby is healthy right now!

I'll only worry if someone I have regular contact with gets ill.

i had flu earlier in the week (docs not testing if its swine flu anymore unless vunerable as theres so many people with it im my area but said it was possible i had it)
im BF so OH couldnt step in and i had to be close to baby constantly. he's fine showing no symptoms. docs said if he had temp or went off feeds to call them straight away so he could be treated.
of all the people who have died from it in uk as far as im aware there has been no babies and they all had other medical conditions.
my dose of flu lasted 3-4 days and all i took for it was paracetamol and lots of water.
