What Can I Do??

My LO's got a chesty cough and sore throat and I don't know what to do to help him!!

He's not grumpy because of it, but when I wind him he crys as he burps because it hurts his throat, and when he coughs he crys a little if it's a big cough.

The last feed he had, as he coughed he was really sick..it sort of projectiled over the sofa!

I've had a look on the internet for cough medicines suitable for 5 month olds and I've found a few but then I read on a random forum that come up on google that you aren't supposed to give it them because it could mask more serious problems??? And to give them calpol or see your GP.

My GP is only there Tue, Wed, Thur and surgery is closed, and I don't want him to go any longer it's so horrible seeing him like this

Can anyone help with what I should do?? Thanks x

Its so horrible when they're poorly isn't it? I would give calpol to ease discomfort and see GP as soon as poss.

Normally our doctors are right pains in the backsides!! Well not the doctor the receptionist, and she won't let you book emergency appointments..Normally I ask to be put through to talk to my doctor (that the receptionist really isn't happy about) and she just says to go straight down. I can give it a try tomorrow see if they'll let me though chances are pretty slim to be honest..I went to an out of hours surgery myself when I was really ill about a month and a half ago the doctor there was really nice I might try giving them a ring?? Will they class it as an emergency though??
