I started Jaymee on solids at about 5 and a half months, she did show signs of wanting to wean before that but i just increased her milk. I know when I was a baby it was 3-4 months to start weaning but I wouldnt personally start before 4 months cause the say their digestive systems cant cope.

I started at 17 weeks, i increased his feeds in the daytime but he couldnt nap and was waking in the night and was so hungry i was getting exhausted trying to keep up. Plus he looked sooo pitiful when we were eating, he really wants a go too! he likes to try and feed himself, he's even got the spoon in his gob but all the food had been shaken off by then but he looks so happy. He had all the other indicators so I'm giving him a little baby rice and he loves it. Hes much more settled now.

I started baby rice at 17 weeks then gradually introduced pureed veg. I didn't introduce jars until he was 6 months as you don't really know what's in them but on the other hand they are really convenient and you don't have room in your freezer for 35 ice cube trays....

I weaned at 3 month onto rice cereal because of her reflux... I gave the odd taste of veg at 4 months, and at 5 months she had 2 meals a day, one rice cereal and 1 veg. I did cereal the most until after 5 months because its the easiest to digest... I did try oatmeal earlier but it seemed to upset her tummy.

I think if she is satisfied o nthe milk you should hold out until 6mo, it's best to wait that long if it's possible. We did it earlier with Landon (the recommendations were different) he was almost 4mo, Casen was almost 6mo and Hayden was 6mo but didn't eat until 9mo. Here are some other signs you can watch for to figure out if she is ready yet

And why it's best to wait until 6mo

6 months. If she is bringing up a lot of feed, speak to your doctor as it could be reflux. Watching you eat at 4 months is also a natural thing to do, its the start of the natural weaning process, but there is a lot more to it than that.

We started just a week shy of 6 months, and now Niamh is on three solid meals a day (usually toast, natural yogurt, carrots, broccoli, avocado, peach, pear, watermelon, cucumber, tomato, cheese, apple, or any of the above!) and still getting milk feeds.
