HELP! High Pitched Screams :P

Question...our little one (3 1/2 months old adjusted age, was premature...) has started in the past 2 weeks this loud SCREECH of a SCREAM. It's deafening and we can't find a rhyme or reason. It's definitely worse when he's tired but he uses it for other things too - wanting attention, happy, wanting to eat, etc. We had his cries sorted out and now this new one is a real bugger of a thing. It's frustrating and it's hard to know what he wants.

Anyone else's little one doing this??

Thanks!!

He could just be discovering new noises that he can make. Simon's sounds change occasionally, too. It doesn't necessarily indicate anything more urgent being wrong, but more just a bigger, stronger baby with less patience?

Brianna's done this multiple times. Just as soon as we figure out what her cries are she changes em. Part of tunin up their vocal chords I'd imagine. It is frustrating though especially when to the outside world they sound like they're being beaten

Elliot went through a phase of doing it - now it's just now and then. I think it's just a new sound like Sarahkka said. It makes my head hurt!!!

Violet's got a really high pitched scream for when she's in pain (I think?) She only ever uses it when she has tears as well and usually its because she needs a big burp

yeh. we had a i'd say 2 months of on off screeching. thank goodness it has dies down now and is like others have said, used appropriately and not for anything and everything most of the time. just a phase of discovery they seem to go through
