Complaint to Mothercare & Compliments to Yorkshire CC!

Yesterday we went to watch the cricket at Headingley. As we were there for the afternoon Hebe needed changing so off we went to the toilets. I wasnt expecting much at all from a cricket and rugby stadium but I was pleasantly suprised! The room was effectively a large toilet cubicle with loo, sink, wall mounted change table and chair. There was no fancy decor as it was under the stands but it was spotlessly clean, well stocked with tissues, soap and paper towels and the automatic deodoriser was working. It smelled fresh and although I didnt need to BF her, I would have happily sat in there if I had needed to. I complimented the cleaner in the toilets who was going in to check there were enough paper towels.

In contrast I went to Mothercare World - so not even a little local store but a MASSIVE store on 2 floors - where the mother room is poorly ventilated, scruffy, not especially clean and most of all it absolutely REEKS

So I wrote an email to both Yorkshire and Mothercare and told them! It's a poor state of affairs when a place built with men and sports in mind knocks the spots off a place supposedly there to 'care' for 'mothers'

It's like they are an after thought. Hebe's bedroom smells when I change her so I keep the window open as much as possible. You would think they would put really good ventilation systems in them.

The two MCs close to me are a bit like this.

They have all the facilities one needs but everything is dated and a bit skanky. The last one I went to, which is a MC World had bottle warmers covered in limescale and just generally dirty also as im sat there breastfeeding on the most uncomfortable bench thing EVER this bloke walks in to empty the nappy bins.

I wouldn't have minded as much if he'd been in and out but he started having a conversation with about his grandaughter and how she takes after his mother in law that died in the 70's ! Im thinking c'mon im trying to bf in PRIVATE here !!

Good on you for complaining

I think I know which mothercare youre on about. I went into their BFing room once and got complained at because I was distracting her son from his baby food.

Pfft.

My local mothercare is as bad as the ones described its also so tiny you can only get 1 double pushchair and 2 other pushchairs in there with 4 people and they dont fit in comfy its a case of being squashed agaisnt the wall! Obviously mothercare is for babys and mothers and Im not expecting a huge area for 10 people but big enough for people to fit in comfy, when your in there you feel like you need to hurry up as other people are waiting!
