I was told not to cut there nails with clippers or sissors (sp?) as the skin grows up the back of their nails too but Ellis's were so long and would always remove his mitts with his mouth as he likes sucking his fist I gave in and clipped them whilst he slept. Pleased to report no blood was lost!!

I didn't know we weren't meant to cut their nails either...I used to file Sam's. He still used to scratch himself though, so I kept his mitts on until he started taking them off and sucking them all the time - think he was about 2 months x

I think Dexter wore them for all of one day, and that was only cause it was chilly during the night in hospital.

I bit his nails after the first couple of days, and have just clipped them today to keep them short. I wasn't told not to cut them. That'd be a pain. They'd be so long by 6 weeks!

Grady wore his for about 3 days... but they kept falling off, so I didn't bother. Unless it was cold then we put them on him!

I used them for about 2 days or so then I realized just how much Phoenix loves his hands, he would always play with his fingers so I didn't bother with the mitts. We started cutting his nails around week 3 or so, no one said not too.
